It was originally done so that Farmers could have more daylight to finish their harvest. With the advent of modern Tractors/farm equipment and cheap day laborers... seems kinda pointless to me.

Besides... at two in the morning my freaking computer, with the volume turned up very high for music, goes DoooDooooDooooDEEEEEE. I was like WTF?!?!??@!!!!2111 I got up and looked and it said "Windows Time has automatically updated."
