Crazy fire while at the gas station

Something really shocking happened to me while pumping gas earlier. While I was reaching to open the gas cap, I guess some static shock happened, and then just like that, fucking fire shot out about 2 feet and burned nearly all the hair off my arm! I seriously thought my car was going to blow right then and there.

Closing the door is not touching the car?? I've seen signs like that back at Cali but never in florida

I've seen in a firefighter training video how easily spark can ignite gasoline. Hell it does it in the cylinder all the time, heh.

Thats some crazy shit though, good thing it doesn't explode as easily.

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

The fire died down after like 2 seconds but then I saw it trying to get inside the gas cap, by then it was already weak and then I blew it out. If I didn't blew it out right there I probably would've been dead and several people at the station. I forgot to mention this earlier, to make things even worse, there was a tanker truck filling up the station less than ten yards away. My friend that was with me shit his pants majorly.

Well, Since Cali and Florida are clones of each other, I'd say the same rules apply.

If a flame erupts from the nozzle, best thing to do is stick the nozzle into the tank filler neck. It defies instinct, but doing so will suffocate the flame. If it really happened to me I'd prob drop the thing and run, or just try to blow it out like you did.

The fire happened when i was reaching in to open the gas cap. So in that case, the best thing i could've done was probably close the gas door. Yeah i'm suprised i didn't run myself, but if i did that would be one less CB7 and one less shell station, maybe even one less city block
