something i wonder about canned food.

Ok i was thinking about it, and when im cutting stuff on my car little metal shavings come off.

well when i open up a can with a can opener, whats to say little metal specs dont fall in my spaghettios? even microscopic ones would be bad for you.... i just dont understand how it works... think even if something the size of pencil led you ate.. ouch.

Thats not so far fetched. It could happen.

I remember reading somewhere that the FDA allows all food processing plants like .1% to "mess up" and i guess accidently distribute food thats contaminated...why? Because no one is perfect so they have to allow for mishaps.

    Enjoy your bumblebee tuna!

can openers shear the metal in half like a round pair of scissors... theres no grinding of the metal so theres no dust/shavings produced.

and if its that small that youd never notice it, youll just crap it out anyway.

LOL!! I just made myself some tuna with that brand!!

I try to use frozen stuff instead of canned. tastes better, imo.

gives a new meaning to "rich in iron" (yeah...i know cans arn't made of iron, screw off).

Seriously though, we learned in probability that every jar of peanut butter contains about 1% insect parts, and that the average human eats something like 5lbs of insects in a year (not just from peanut butter, but from all the packaged food they eat).

              mmmmmmm. protein

its actually 5-8 per year. This is a 100% urban legend though.

                    lol @ Rocknricer

I work at a shipyard. Do you know in 6 years how much metal, rust, and paint flakes floating around the air i've inhaled? I'm ok, you'll be just fine. Besides, what's the worse that could happen?
You're brain slows down and you drive:
A.) Into someone's lawn to avoid a speedbump
B.) Into a gas station only to have your wiring catch fire
C.) With a screw loose in your rotor that eventually leads to total Distributor failure.
                    D.) All of the above

                    love ya man

LOL. Seriously though, even if they did somehow get in your food, a small bit of metal shavings won't hurt you.

I do that too. I barely ever get sick because of it. However, my gf (who obsessively washes her hands), gets sick like every 2 weeks. wtf?

anyways, yeah, dont worry about little shards of metal. Its really not that big of a deal.

If you worry about getting sick, you're gonna get sick.

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.
