We should create a "how to properly interact with law enforcement" thread
That's all very good (and accurate) info! When it comes to police, never assume you know your rights. Unless you've studied the laws (as they have), you don't know the ins and outs. Better to cooperate. If you were doing something wrong, you don't have to admit it (better not to outright admit it anyway), but there's no need to make the cop the bad guy. Chances are, he's pulled over countless cocky jackasses driving modified Hondas, so he's going to treat you as such from the start. If you act as he expects, then that will continue. Show him you can be mature and respectful, and that may catch him off guard enough to let you go with a warning! (then you're going to find the jerks that will give you a ticket for no good reason... I had a cop give me a ticket for not signing the back of my replacement license... because when he said "were you aware that you ran that red light?" my response was "no, but I'm aware I ran the yellow light and watched it turn red in my rear view mirror." Yeah... he didn't like that)
