net neutrality: YOUR internet is about to change

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JP_3WnJ42kw

    what does this mean?

well, as of yesterday, the changes are already in the works......sites are probably looking at a fee to load as fast their connection will allow, something that is free for now.

if they can't afford that fee, then those sites may load as slow as 1/100th of their maximum speed.....that's YOUR 10mbps connection that you pay $50+ a month for, loading a site like cb7tuner.com at a whopping 100kbps; literally slow DIAL UP speeds.......so you'll be paying for more, but you won't get it and there won't be shit you can do about it

it's best to voice your opinion to your senators NOW. you can go here to find out the number to call your senators' offices at http://www.savetheinternet.com/

this isn't just some bullshit and this is going to be just like the other "free media"

do something now because it's damn near TOO LATE.

we know money rules this country and those with it want more and this is how they get it....the rest of us just wanna be happy and if the internet factors into that happiness or even convenience in any way, you better make it know now
....and on the 7th day, deevergote rested and called his mom.

The internet was created by and run by people interested in sending data over POTS to do things like send messages. We'll just have to tear it all down and start again. That's what we're supposed to do when the country stops working right? Tear it all down and start again?

We've got computers, we've got data lines, we'll have to create a new successor to tcp/ip and stop using their system...

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

I don't think monthly internet fees is the issue here...it is the imminent takeover of the internet by large companies that is the problem...

If large companies are allowed to take over the internet like they have with Radio, Newspaper, and TV, the internet will merely become a 1way street of information provided by the highest bidder.

Once this happens, the democratic power of the internet user will be reduced to that of the couch potato in front of a TV.

This is very serious...I would pay $1000/month for internet if it meant I had to choose between a 1way corporate controlled medium and the true communication wonder we have today.

                  IMO

ok...Im having a little turbo lag on this....

Correct me if Im wrong ..>ANYONE<

                      to my understanding;

Network Neutrality is say ...Sam and Bob pay for their services...right?

                      they can communicate FREELY!

but with Network Neutrality taken out of the equation..and phone companies meddling...Sam and Bob would have to double pay or even triple pay for everything they do..because its now a closed media, ( controlled network )

am I right or wrong...im trying to understand this!

exactly....the first thing people will notice is that some of their favorite sites that can't afford the monthly charges will be so slow they can't visit them. blogs can be blocked by your provider, videos, even access to certain online news items.

more than anything, it's comparable to radio and what happened when the FCC took over. it went from a very open, very unbiased thing to what it is today, a way to market shit and nothing more. the music is commercial, they can't say certain things and they have to answer to their bosses who own the station, and since most people will sell out rather than fight, you have people giving opinions on things that are not their own.

and as far as "tearing it down and rebuilding it", that's not going to be anything like what it is now. they'll own the means to do that and if you don't think air will be owned by people moreso than it is now, just sit back and watch that happen. native americans are already pushing to own air in canada, meaning that whatever signals go through it, the originators of those signals will owe money to those NA. i doubt they'll win this time, but someone will win, like they always do, and then what......
....and on the 7th day, deevergote rested and called his mom.

We really shouldnt have to pay anything at all for the internet. It should be made free as its a huge communication tool and education tool. Many mornings i come into work on a weekend and its slow and i go and read on how turbines work or how plants migrate(yes they do in fact migrate).

But realisticly because of advertising and such its not free.....

but i refuse to pay more then i do now, or even half what i do now for 28.8.....

If i pay for it, then i want it to be worthwhile and enjoyable...

i havent owned a tv in years because of being in the military...i dont need one.

So they can do what they want with tv, just leave Adult Swim alone.

I think as far as security and such it should be left up too the individual companies and schools....but to try and "control" the entire internet is a fucking sham...its bs...its censorship in its highest form....

if it goes through goodbye....i refuse to be part of it....
