Just some of the work ive done this year in Form Z (mac leopard w/cs3). nothing spectacular but i figured some of u guys might like it. ill update this as the year goes on and i do more work.
Did I ever tell you I was the Massachusetts state Architecture champion? I got to compete at Nationals in Kansas City because of it (placed 10th there).
If it wern't for my love of writing software, i would probably be an architect!
I never got to use Form Z, but I had heard a lot of good things about it. We had to use AutoCAD Architecture edition during competition. They gave everyone a free copy of it if at nationals, if you are interested ill let you copy it sometime (its the 2002/3 version, probably outdated by now).
yea ive got auto cadd on my mac. but its slow as shit cause it runs on virtual PC. plus form z is easier to draft on. then after u draft u can explode it all into 3D.
but thats awesome eric. where did u get involved with doing that?

I went to a vocational high school, and was in "Drafting" shop. We did a little of everying..mechanical/electrical/civil/architecture, but i really liked architecture the most

yea i love it. its so much work but its one thing that i can have fun with whilei work.
this is the assignment we got on on wed. due for sunday night at 9pm. so far i have the digital model done. thats the red colored one up there.
Drawings drafted by hand:
Site plan showing roof plan and context 1/2"=1'-0"
Floor plans and all sections 1/2"=1'-0"
Digital drawing:
Sectional perspective 1/2"=1'-0"
Presentation model
Must fit inside the site model 1/2"=1'-0"
This must be a precisely built model - should NOT look like a process
Could be made out of bass wood (NOT balsa), museum board or chip board
You need to show glass with plexi
You can use chipboard to make this model but the model must be made cleanly
Perspective drawings
Black and White drawings with charcoal or pencil or conte crayon or pastel
A minimum of 14 drawings around 16" x 16" that show a sequence or procession through the space describing the light and views.
You can use sketch-up or form-z to block out the drawings to get the right perspective viewpoint but then finish by hand
These drawing should evoke the emotion of the space and be about the experience (not analytical like the plans and sections)
Diagrams
The diagrams might work better if they are digital with sketch-up or form-z. They should be scaled maybe at 1/2" =1'-0" Axons are easier to explain the work not just 2D drawings.
light
circulation
structure
program
Conceptual models and sketches
The initial models describing your conceptual ideas for the project.

lol, loser!
jk.
I used to be into architecture as well. I used AutoCAD Architecture 2005 and was pretty good at it. I never saved my work b/c I did most of it at school.
I took 4 years in HS hand drafting and a little autocad work there. Went to ITT Tech, started working for an arch. firm after 4 months at school. Graduated with an Associates of Science degree in Computer Drafting & Design after 2 years. Ive learned more at work than at school... Right now, my position is a draftsman/job captain. Basically developing commercial building Construction Documents for submittal to the city...
3D is blowing up right now... still a lot of firms that dont use 3D what so ever...
I was taking architecture this year in school....I had to stop after first semester cuz I couldnt afford it anymore....I was gonna go back but I recently got a good job in Edmonton so that ends my school career.
I never made anything that looked nearly as good as your stuff though.
