can u watch tv on a computer?

i dont watch tv much but there are a few shows i like. simpsons, family guy, heros. im not usually able to watch because im always at my computer doing work or talking to someone. yes i work on sunday nights and it sucks.

i used to have one of those tv tuner cards for my desktop but i dont know where that is anymore. is it possible to watch network tv online now in real time? i kno i can download heros and stuff and get the other stuff from torrents but i want to be able to watch at the same time as my friends so i dont miss out on the conversations the next day


i found nsome program that works for tv but it doesnt show the normal network channels like fox and cbs.

you can buy a USB TV Tuner. Theyre not outrageously expensive, and most can get HD resolutions.

I think he's talking about live streaming tv, so he can watch shows on the computer at the same time they're on tv (I'm looking for the same thing myself... though now that I have my laptop, it's not as important)

I don't think anything like that exists...yet. If it did it would probably be subscription service also. Your best option is a tv tuner card.

I have one from ATI and i can pause live tv and record and all kinds of shit.

Its worth the 80$ imo.

I have mythTV running in my house...so yes I can stream live TV to my desktop and laptop. And of course record like it as a DVR.
