1.8T vs M3

ok i don't lie. i said hung with him. he pulled on me just about the whole time. BUT!!!! i was right there until 100mph when i hit fourth and his really just pulled away. i wish i had a video camera at the time. i found it hard to believe and i was driving. But the guy did have aftermarket chrome rims (extra weight) and i am sure he wasn't in the lowest gear too. But you all can call BS all you want but i was no more then a car length or less from him until 100mph. and yes he was racing b/c i have the sunroof popped up and i heard him floor it.

the power range is the same and the specs are darn close. so saying he was in fourth and i was in 3rd it could have been that close. Also for the weight savings i was on about a 1/4 of a tank. But i wouldn't believe me either but he had to of been in a high gear. However he was racing and he was at WOT. i know that.

Did you have two of the "big ones"? Did they install it for you in time for that night?

dude turbo spooled blah blah, great so he was actually using his full potential with 150 hp, guess what the m3 has over double that,not to mention that them3 has a top speed at 160, and the passat tops out at around 130..... nodoubt the m3 would rape the passat, look at the power to weight ratio as well. no way man

From a roll... . Thats diff. However, I am also skeptical on WOT. M3s are not easily beat...especially in this race.

ok sorry i am not up to date on my M3 years. i was looking at edmunds for stats and i realized it wasn't the newest. shoot me But i know he was atleast getting on it. ok WOT is a sretch, possibly. i know a lot of you guys drive autos so you don't realize what its like to stay in a gear and floor it with its to high. if he was in 4th or 5th then and floored it he would still pull but not like it was if he was dead set on racing. and that could explain why he really started leaving me at 100. He could have been in 4th and finally got into the power band at 100 and left me. while i was in the correct gear at WOT taking full avantage of my 90 less hp motor. i am not saying that he was at the right RPMs at WOT with the intent to burn up the road and just put me to shame, nowing that he could. This guy wasn't looking to race but i became a bug in his ear and he prob. just put it in 4th and goes i will just leave him and then sees that i am closer then he thought and then finally went to WOT at 100mph. But 70-100mph i was there...he was getting into it.....and i did lose....but i hung with him.... what else do you all want or need to know. and yes if i modded (with bolt ons) i would no be affarid to go at WOT at any RPM or speed.

Ok so you raced an e36 M3 these are still really fast cars, the reason being is the short gearing they have, anyone can say oo its got 240hp my moms 6cyl accord has the same it DOESNT matter in this case, even at a 70mph roll the M3 would easily kill the passat even if the turbo was fully spooled because of the bigger 6cyl 3.2 liter vs. a 4cyl 1.8Turbo you do the math, the M3 at a 70mph roll is actually where it puts the power down. My brother happens to own one, I hate it when people put the M3 down because its a bmw, these cars can easily stay with the 350z its a drivers race, so the passat doesnt even belong in this catagorie.

I wouldn't really consider the 350z much competition for the m3. They are somewhat with the older ones, but definitely not with the newer m3's. 350z's aren't too impressive.

i can beat the 240 m3' sany day im my 350, but the new M3 i can only hang with, my friend starts to crawl away at 120 ish.. but the older ones no way are they competition
