    lowering a ticket in california

So I got a ticket today. Cop said I was doing 71 in a 65. I knew I was doing 66 but forgot my spedometer was off, so he was probably right. It was night time, he was on the road parked with no lights on. I usually dont slow down...but this time I did.

71 in a 65 I wasnt trippin, But on the ticket he put 71 in a 55...and upon looking it is a 55mph speed limit dAMn.

This is my first ticket, and he put the radar number on it and stuff.

I just want the fees reduced....if I got 70mph id be fine...but 71 puts the price higher.

-Do I go to court and pled guilty and ask for a lower number, or do I have to pled not quilty and wait for trial?

-Should I go to traffic school before my court date so my insurance wont go up, or does it even matter....will it make me look better in front of the judge?

-What if I cant read the court date on the ticket, it says like " 5 o D"...what the hell does that mean?
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

u'll get a printed copy in the mail soon with correct dates and all.. but if u want it lowered, u can go to the trial, plead guilty and let the judge know it was your mistake thinking it was 65, and you have some financial hardship.. say ur back in school.. or something. Let him know u will be taking traffic school.

This would be your safest bet. Especially if you haven't had an moving violation in a while. I've seen judges knock off a hundred or so. I've also seen judges tell the driver to pay the fees and there will be no point on the record.

Otherwise your playing with fire.. you pretty much have no case and is banking on the officer to not be in court..

Go to court. Last time I went to court over a speeding ticket I heard them repeatedly say that radar guns can be inaccurate by 1 or 2 mph. If you are only 1 mph over then I'd say you have a good chance on getting the fine reduced.
