My car passed smog today
All I did was clean the EGR valve again, because I did a shitty job last time. This time I used 2 cans of carb cleaner and got a bunch more of carbon buildup out of it.
The only other thing I did was retard the timming about 1 degree or so.
So I took my car to a smog guy my dad knows down here in National City. I was just hoping to get some numbers so I could see how clean the engine is burning. After a few minutes I notice the guy is transmitting the data to DMV, and my car passed with flying colors LOL.
If you notice a few posts back, the NO before was 1600 something ppm. Now it is 167ppm. The HC are also down to 31ppm, before it was 200.
The guy said the cat is close to being bad though (2 month old cat btw). Every time he let the car idle the cat would cool down and the smog number would jump up. We even felt the cat after running the engine a long time and it was just warm to the touch, not hot
So no BAR, but I'll have my new tags anywaysLast edited by 4CYLPOWER92; 02-29-2008, 08:55 PM.
