ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

IF it works...JUST DO IT. forget the RIGHT way

You can fix THE problem...which IS THE SEAL...or you can do stupid shit...and yes drilling another hole would drain the fluid...but it won't keep it out now will it?
Whose arguing, you are trying to tell me I am wrong. There is nothing wrong with drilling a drain hole In a rear lens.

If the bumper turn signal drain gets clogged clean it out, yes a drill bit by hand can be used.

Comparing a TB to a light lens is like comparing steak to apples.

Wow, I cant believe you are getting so uppity. Its actually kinda fun seeing how sensitive you are and how much you think your way is the only way. Get over yourself. I have been a certificated mechanic since '97. I dont need to defend myself.

Good luck, take a deep breath and chillax.

Well I got upitidy true...but not cause of this...I have other issues going on outside of the net...mah coffee ran low...which I let influence my typing.

But you are wrong. As a mechanic why would you encourage drilling a hole that is not needed and the wrong solution instead of the proper fix? Which is a new gasket? That's what I'm getting at.

I encourage drilling a drain hole because:

        1. The hole can be drilled in a place where the water drains onto the top lip of the bumper and not onto a place where it will increase corrosion.

        2. There is no possibility of structural damage.

        3. The risk of a light fixture filling up with water and shorting out your rear lights is high. Id rather have a #40 drill bit hole in a place invisible unless you pull the light lens rather than get rear ended and it being your fault.

        4. If you have ever seperated light lenses, you know sometimes the fall apart during the process (age, factory glue choice, poor craftsmanship, user error) . Now you have to get new rear tails and in the meantime you are driving around with a halfass tape job.

        5. There really isnt a down-side to doing this, as long as the hole is in the bottom and not huge. You wont get bugs a #40 is too small for mud dobbers. And no water penetration from the bottom up unless you aqua-man it.

        6. Not likely but possible, Your rear tailights are actually sealed ok but the water is leaking in around your trunk and through the bulb holes.

The process I go through before I fix or modify something is the same one I use before I submit a repair order to a certified engineer for an approval.

There is the right way to fix something under perfect conditions and then the right way to fix something under real world conditions.

For example if you go by your way of thinking every car that has ever had metal bent out of place and then bent back was not fixed properly. Because technically that metal has underwent work hardinening and is now more brittle. So you you should rockwell test the hardness and then determine if you should then reheat treat the whole car. which will then involve a complete disassemble.

        Unrealistic for the real world.

So in the real world we make sure it isnt going to hurt anything and that its still sound and call it good. On an airplane I would unrivet it and remove it or install a doubler either way Id probably talk with an engineer.

Now back to the topic, this is a LIGHT LENS.
