ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Tire Shine?

Most tire shines I buy work like poop.
they make my tires an ugly brown color.
I heard that petroleum based shines will eat your tires.
Any one know of a brand that works AND is good for tires?
    Thank you!

You see models at every car show.
But have you ever seen a model that actually takes the car she built to a show?

You heard correctly. Petroleum based shines eats away rubber.

A water based product is what you'd need, but it doesn't last long. It's more ideal for a car show, not for a long lasting shine.

You can look into some stuff made by Ecoshine. It's safe to use on everything from your tires to interior and whatever else. It's water based.

Also, would I be able to find a water based product locally? like autozone or O reillys?

I use STP ''Son of a gun tire shine''.

I don't like using those high glossy looking type, makes your tires look like you smear jelly on them.

some petroleum will dry out the rubber, some. not all.

reason is there are thousands of different types of silicones.

almost all car care products have silicones in them. it's the type of silicone that matters. obviously, you don't want low grade silicones.

              never use any armorall product.

the only petroleum based tire shine i would feel comfortable using is Black Magic Tire Gel.

i currently use Mother's FX Tire Shine, it is water based. only bad part about it is it doesn't have the crazy shine that the Black Magic has. good part, doesn't sling off. both last forever though.

here's a pic with black magic:

here's what the FX looks like:

as you can see, it's still shiny, but not as rich looking as the silicone based. later.

Lord Fusor makes a two part tire shine. It lasts a really long time. It's pretty much some of the best stuff out there. Here's a link to the kit, the price is good too:
