ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Bumper Trim Restoration Video

Hey all, me and my friend recently came across an AMAZING detailing idea, and I am very happy to bring you all this video.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-dtbBzky-s

Basically, by using a heat gun and going over your black bumper trim in an airbrushing kinda painting motion, you can restore the blackness in your bumper trim (melts the plastic enough for it to return to its original color). NO MORE CHEMICALS AND STUFF TO BLACKEN YOUR TRIM AND HAVE IT WASH OFF IN THE RAIN!!!!

just be careful around your paint.

Just wanted to share with you all a discovery that has made my car lookin' extra sexy now

Yep! I have done it, and it is FREAKIN AMAZING. my rear lip and bumper trim used to be that dull faded grey color, and when i nuked it with my heat gun, it turned a sweeeeeeet sweet wet black. :3 will post pictures soon.

i might do this, since taping off the trim and spraying takes a while. I resprayed my door trim and I used a lot of tape and newspaper to mask--took a good 30mins on each side of constantly masking.

yeah thats the one thing i've always tried to avoid, spraying my trim.

this will definitely work, airbrush strokes, take your time, and once the plastic starts to change color (you'll notice) start moving in circles and don't stay in one spot too long. you can always go back for another pass.

This works for all cars, anything with black plastic showing. definitely works on the bumper trims, lips, rocker panels, and imma test out my cowl someday. the actual door side mouldings are a little weird, but i believe they still work, since i did mine. they took a while to start though, and they didn't react as well as the bumper trim and stuff.

have fun, good luck! HF GL

i put this up on 3geez also. it's a pretty cool trick.

i think you'd have to take your time to get a uniform finish. later.

yeah, take your time, and do multiple passes so you can get that deep black look. circles! all that effort pays off in the end, it looks as though you just got the bumper fresh!

It works on the OEM side skirts as well! Mudflaps take a little longer and react differently when i was doing them, so i'd be cautious around them, but they can turn black again as well.

PS: give your heat gun time to cool off. I was a dummy and used my heat gun with few cooling breaks, and green fire started showing up inside it >_<' COPPER IGNITING. I remembered SOMETHING from chemistry

oh well, it was a $10 heat gun, i ain't trippin', it did everything i needed it to do

I love this trick. :3 good stuff.

this method works to an extent on larger pieces but paint still looks best in m opinion
