Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    another tire/rim question

    Ok buying rims next month
    Just wondering
Can 225/40/18 fit on a 91 cb7 with no sticking
out the fender or rub (not tripping off U turn rub) on stock height /suspension?
And one more question what is the off set?
Hope all makes sense thanks for the help

we would deffinatly need to know the offset of the rim, it is how far the mounting surface of the rim sits from the center line of the rim

Thats my question what is the off set period .... I think its the same with any rim. But idk the off set for the car period..rim size may change depending on owner but I think the off set is the same which not sure what it is....
I can b wrong about the off set staying the same just different size

I'm running that tire size and they rub the rear wheel house lips. I'm not positive on my offset, but the tires are also very close to the rear upper control arm portion of the knuckle, so even with a different offset to avoid the wheel wells, I'd probably be rubbing on the upper arm. I had 215's before these and they didn't rub at all. I had to roll the rear lips for clearance and raise my coilovers a tad.

On stock suspension I think you'll still have issues. Look into 215's and you'll be better off.

edit: My car was crazy monster truck lookin' when I put my 18's on before the suspension. I put them on for a test fit, they looked like they stuck out. After lowering it, the camber angle changed and they tuck in nicely.

You are much better off going with a 215/45/18. You will essentially be getting the same height, but with sidewall clearance.

However, once you get the specs of the rim, I will be able to tell you for certain.

we dont know what the offset is because not all the rims are the same and have the same offset. all you did was give us a tire size which is the second thing you should worry about after the rims offset. when you buy your rims they will say inside 18 x 7 1/2 + 45 or less. that +45 is the offset and thats how we will know if the tires you will rub or not..

but if your on stock suspension then i highly doubt you are doing to rub but if your worried about it rubbing then stick with 215/40 series tires instead of 225/40

What the heck are you talking about?

Do you understand what offset is?

The wheel has the offset, and it varies from wheel to wheel. The car requires a certain offset for proper clearance. Too high, and it will hit the suspension components. Too low, and it will hit the fender. Incorrect offset, especially low offset, will also put a fair amount of unnecessary strain on the wheel bearings.

Most 18" wheels that are the correct fitment for our cars will have an offset between +38 and +42. They will usually be between 7.5" and 8" wide. The correct tire size is 215/40/18. The aspect ratio (the 40) is determined by the diameter (18) and width (215)... so if you increase the width to 225, your 40 aspect ratio will make for a taller tire. You will probably rub with a taller/wider tire. Depending on your ride height, you may rub with the proper size, even.

im running 215/40/18 on my sig and that is perfect enough for the car to stick to the ground any wider and it will rub as stated by deev
