ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

This is what is needed to properly convert to HID. Other options are available, but this is what i would recommend.

I have 6000k DDM Tuning HIDs.

They have been in my car for almost 2 years with no issues.

I've bought 4 sets of HIDs through DDM and they are cheap and awesome to deal with.

I'd like to change to 4300 or 5000k HIDs though, as I feel my 6000s are too blue for me.

Without projectors aiming that light properly... they light up far too much of the road, including blinding oncoming traffic. I HATE when I get blinded by some ricer with HIDs in a halogen housing.

Also, though people will argue this (and new technology may make it unnecessary...) I wouldn't run an HID kit without an auxiliary harness going to the battery. HIDs draw less power than halogen once they're warmed up, but while they're warming up, they draw almost double. 20 year old wiring won't hold up to that very long, and a $15 harness that takes 5 minutes to install properly is MUCH better than repairing or replacing a damaged stock harness!

Yeah, mine glare really bad, but that's expected in the halogen housing. A retrofit is in order one day. I think for the winter though, I may go back to halogen bulbs to cut down glare on the snow.

DDM tuning kits are great for the money; put them on my parents cars. Just realize that their 6000k and 8000k kits are actually the same and are around 7000k. I know this because my dads civic has the 8000k kit from them and my moms Rav4 has the 6000k kit...and they're the same.

Retrofitting your headlights would be the best option, but as long as you aim your headlights properly you can have HIDs in stock housing

                          Kelvin Color Temperatures

3000k Yellow, cuts through fog great without the glare
4300k Stock color, decent in fog with slight glare.
5000k White with a slight blue tint. In foggy conditions will glare you more then the 4300k. I believe it also has the highest lumen output of all the colors.
6000k Blue, it has a higher lumen output than 3k/8k, but less then 5k, comparible to output of 4300k.
8000k Purple, its light ouput sucks compared to the rest. Any temperatures higher will suffer even worse.

Personally, I would use 3k for fogs; 4.3k/5k for low beams, then put some 5k/6k's in the high beams.

Also I agree with deev on not putting hid's in unmodified halogen housings, I'm tired of being blinded by people driving at night. Hid's are great, but if your going to put them in the stock housings, install these into your housing first: Morimoto Mini D2S Projectors or buy the "ebay" one piece aftermarket headlights. Just don't put HID's into unmodified stock housings please!!!!!

btw, you can put HIDs in stock housing as long as you're mechanically inclined enough to know how to aim a headlight. It's not very hard and you'll never blind people. My headlights never pass the top of peoples trunks when i'm behind them. And i rarely get flashed, which is when im sitting on a higher elevation than the car i'm facing.....but projectors would blind them too at that point.

Its not the main cutoff that blinds people, its the extra "glare" light, the extra light shooting up that lights up freeway signs better then the lights their equiped with.

6000k is light/faint blue tinted light to me, its quote "daylight", blue like vs Compare to 5k and you'll see what I mean. I bought a 6k "daylight" floodlight for the stairwell in the house, and whenever I flip it on, its got that blue tint, vs when I compare to my 5000k shop lights that are white.

If you want a white light, go with 5000k, 6000k will end up looking bluish, 4300k is yellowish compared to 5k.
