ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    f22a1 in a6 body

    hi i am new just jot my first honda and love it i have a few questions tho

    i have purchased a 93 ex with a f22a1 not a6 it is a swaped motor as i can see common engine recycle markings such as 90,000 good and a part number in yellow written on head

    at first thought it was replaced head on original motor but after little searching i have found it was a f22a6 that would have come factory

    anyhow it seems be running rich all the time suspected o2 sensor it was good i am wondering if the people that did the swap had left a6 cpu that is dumping to much gas into my a1 motor any ideas on what to check i am realy good at following instructions to do mechanical procedures but i have searched and only found forum of the opposite swap a1 to a6 for more power can get a list of things to check to see if it is what i suspect a6 cpu stuff dumping to much gas

    thanks again i found this is the only place to go to net get into a huge fight about what faster and that people hear from reading actualy complete some pretty cool swaps on thier hondas A+ for this community

    Check the ECU to see the code on it.

    PT3 = F22A1
    PT6 = F22A6

    ECU should be under the carpet on the passenger front floor

      A couple things that I would do if I were you so we can help you identify what setup you are running with your car. Please take a picture(s) of the engine bay, and post it up here.

      The difference between an a1 and an a6 is minimal. Theres the camshaft (and valve-springs), intake, exhaust, windage tray, and ecu.

      If you could go as far as to finding out what is stamped on end of the camshaft, that could help.

      Most likely when the engine was swapped they re-used your exhaust, intake, and ecu that was pre-existing in your car, and just swapped the motor, where the only real difference between an a1 and a6 motor would be the camshaft, valve springs, and a windage tray / different oil pickup.

            1st Picture: Your missing the plug for the timing hole, I would goto a junkyard and find one, as its not good to leave it open like that.

            2nd Picture: It looks like your exhaust manifold is from an a1, but the intake box looks to be proper for your car. If you can take one more picture of the intake manifold, where the throttle body and most of the vacuum lines go to it would help as I can't tell by this picture.

            EDIT: Since you have an a1 exhaust manifold on there, it makes me wonder, how many tips do you have on your muffler? Whoever did the swap didn't know their shit, as the a4 and a6 4-2-1 exhaust manifolds are superior to the a1's 4-1. Another reason I wonder about the intake manifold...

                  Alright, it looks like you also have the a1 intake manifold, which does not have IAB's aka Butterflies in the intake manifold. The last question is to know what ecu is under the carpet of the passenger side?

                  Your theory of dumping extra fuel could definately hold true if you have a PT6 under the carpet, as the IAB's are supposed to open around 4500 rpm's, so the ecu would be expecting more air.

                  Which if you have a PT6 under the carpet, you might as well track down some parts. The following thread totally applies to you. How to make 30+hp for $500 or less... (DX/LX F22A1 only)

                  Maybe take a look at my Members Ride Thread (in my sig), as should give you an idea of the road ahead.

                  Honestly its a shame that the car was "downgraded" because whoever did the swap took the quick and easy way to swap engines.... sorta... i mean if the engine is already out, how hard is it to swap the intake manifold over, and keep the existing exhaust? My condolences.

                    no its pt3 so i am guess its a temp sensor but no engine trouble codes

                    what happens is after driving for 1 or 2 hours when you come to a stop the ideal bogs down to under 500 rpm and smell rich from tailpipe

                      Aww... lawd, I'm pretty sure you do not have an EX, as your missing the sunroof.... no wonder nothing makes sense. Did someone stick an EX badge on the trunk or something?

                      Whats the TITLE for the car say?

                      EDIT: I feel like i've been trolled

                          If its a DX, it means you should have manual windows. Do you have manual windows? Also your HVAC controls should be different then LX/EX/SE units. The best advantage a DX has is its lightness, as its not weighed down with extra "luxuries".
