ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

3000k is amber 4500k is pure white 5000k is light blue 6000k is crystal blue 8000k is pure blue 10000k is violet
    Maple50175 - you're annoying =P

I was always told 6000k was pure white. I have 6000k in my GTP, and I don't see any blue, aside from when they're warming up.

I would definitely get between 4500k and 6000k. 3000k is yellow, and not very impressive. Good for fogs. 8000k is just too blue... really ricey looking, IMO. The only blue-look OEM ones that I like are through projectors, which give them their color. Plus, they're white head-on, just blue from the sides.

Also, the higher temps don't put out as much usable light.

Daylight is 5500K. The highest amount of useable light would be at around 5000K. 4300K is the only temp approved for OEM use if I remember correctly.

I say if you have some time, do a projector retrofit, you will be amazed at what the outcome is! much wider/better dispersal of the light.

Here is a better comparison of
6000k Philips VS 4100k (i think) OEM BMW HID (BOSCH)

3000k will be a lot more yellow.

that looks pretty fine to me. Maybe seeing such a big difference them two, you may think that is not 4100k.

as most everyone is suggesting... go with an output of 6000k .. that is the best.. IMO. good luck with the decision.

6000k isn't the best output. it only looks that way. i have 4300k that im putting in my projectors and i checked them and they look good.

Why do you think factories put in 4300k? They are supposedly the best light output closest to the sun

As I stated previously, 5500K is the color of sunlight. That being the case, 5000K would be the closest color of an HID bulb to actual sunlight. Factories use 4300K bulbs because they are the only ones legally approved for use on public roads.

6700* kelvin is the natrual tempature of the sun. the tempature vs. color discrepancy is because not all bulbs are manufactured the same, and a 4000* luminics is not going to be the same color as a 4000* phillips.
