ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Audio guru opinion's needed

I have been out of touch with the car audio game for some time, so bare with me. The setup im thinking of is relatively simple: A set of CTX65CS's up front, a single IDQ12V2 in a custom slot port box for bass, and run the whole thing with an mb quart DSC4125. Would this be considered a decent budget "sqish" setup? Also, would it be wise to upgrade my electrical system in any way? Any ideas on how to tune the sub for this application? Sorry for a million questions, but i do appreciate any suggestions.

for tuning the box ull either hit lows or highs.....lows sounds better but highs gets ur db number count up....go for lows...or tune the box to hit both....and um u prolly dont koe how to build a box i assume....so just go to ur local car audio place and ask about customizing a box for ur honda.. they are alot better for u than a damn probox or that other shit...and u can get the box specificly designd for ur subs.. 3 cubic feet is a good choice for them cars..... my bro got a 92 honda and he goes and competes with his stuff...and he works for car auido...so i kinda koe what im saying for a newbie lol.... i got a 91 that im working on....i murdered my out lol...but yea...this should help

True, ya, i can find the info for box specs and even build it, I wanna know what "Hz" to tune the box to so it works well in a cb sedan.

I reccomend you do a google search for WinISD, and download it. Take the t/s paramters of your driver, and create your driver in the program, and design a box for your woofer....

If you go ported, you typically want to start rolling off around 40-45hz... Or shoot for an f3 point of somthing like 35-40hz, this will give you clean solid bass all the way down to about 20-25hz, I wouldnt play a sub any lower, loud anyways due to possible unloading effects the box could have on the sub...

                Ahhh Image Dynamics. Good choice.

ID recommends a 1.25-2.0 cu. ft box for that sub. What type of music do you listen to?

ive played with those subs before i got a good result from 1.7@34hz its very accurate sub, but when i built a similar enclosure with a lower tune it started breaking up and couldn't get the lows like i wanted after 2 boxes later i found a good median at 1.7@35hz.

I listen to alot of music, mostly from 90's era hip hop and alternative. From gangstarr to sonic youth, I like it all. I want to hear and feel the bass but dont want it "boomy". From what i understand, sealed box's work well for tight accurate bass at the cost of efficiency, and your typical slot port box designs yield more overall spl but in a more narrow or peaky bandwidth however, I also hear a slot port box can play tight if tunned that way? You can read everybody arguments online, but perhaps I'll invest in some mdf and find out
