ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    alternator upgrade

okay, so im upgrading my system and its pretty clear i need a bigger alt. But they are hella expensive. So i got to thinking, what about just swaping it with a bigger factory one out of another honda. i was thinking a minivan or something might have a bit bigger one. so my question is, does anyone know of another factory alternator that will fit my 91 lx? thanks alot!

According to parts stores specs the one out of the prelude has ten amps more output. Direct fit.

A 10 amp upgrade is pretty small if you're gonna upgrade.

Go with Mechman. The extra money would be well worth it.
And I think the Odyssey alternator might cause some belt slippage.

That's kinda pricy. I was looking into just getting one of the universal slim fits that Mechman makes and making that work, saves a lot of money.

shit, 140 amps is way better. and the junkyard by my house has like 10 different odysseys. The average price for an alt from that place is like 15 bucks too. cant beat that at all! i mean for that price id find a way to make it work.

could you do a pully swap? like take my f22a1 alt pulley and throw it on a odyssey f22b alt?

If the alt is from a 2.2 it should work just fine. I was thinking it was a 140 amp alt from an odyssey with like a v6 or something.

A v6 alternator might fit but the belt may slip under heavy loads.

Get the right belt size and you won't have issues with slippage......
