ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

My subwoofer makes a loud noise

I have a JL Audio 12' and today while I was playing it, it started to make a weird humming noise and it still hits beats when I play it pass volume 8 but anything below volume 8 I can hear the annoying noise? Any thoughts on it

probably a grounding issue. Are you using the factory head unit, or an aftermarket one? I've seen this happen with factory headunits using hi-level/low level converters for the rca outputs.

I had a similiar problem with an old MTX amp I had. It turned out to be a bad RCA input on the amp. You might wanna check your amp ground, headunit ground, maybe swap in a new set of RCA cables too. Make sure your RCA's are run away from your power wire, or any other high current wires.

If you have an Ohm meter, ohm out your sub to make sure it's within spec to rule that out.

could be bad jacks to check them where they input on your amp give them a little thump and see if the thump travels to the actual speaker its self. next could be the ground in some cases if you ground on certain body parts it can pick up road noises and travel to the amp then to the sub. also could be the amp its self might have a short or something of that nature. next check the sub give it a little push while playing and see if the noise gets worse or goes away can be a voice coil starting to go bad if so then you can either get it fixed or just buy a new one. i have had many systems and the kit from walmart has giving me many problems with bad feed back in my system for one there jacks are crap beyond all means. some people may have luck with them but i never have that's for sure.. check the head unit also and make sure its not grounded out to the car at all it can casue noises to travel from car all the way back also. sit amp on bare metal it can casue problems also. do a through check of everything listed and if the problem consists you may either need a new system its self or take it to a local audio shop and have it checked they are profesionals for that stuff.. hope this helps some man later...

Make sure wherever you put your ground its on a solid contact with no paint! You can sand the area down to bare to stop feed back from ground also dont have power by rcas had that problem once at low volume it creats feed back!

if u have good wire, it dont matter cause i have my power at less 3 inches away from my rca and i dont have that problem its more then likely the ground just clean the paint off and it should be fine unless its a cheap amp kit

You can have walmart amp wiring kit on a budget (like me) and not have problems as long as is in contact with the chassis and not on top of paint it will stop the annoying whinning and loud feed back on your system!

if your amp is mounted to something metal it will make that sound. i had mine mounted on my rear seat and it started to make that sound. i thought it was my ground wire but, no. i just took some 2x4s and and mounted my amp to it. got rid of the sound.

I may have bad news for you my friend, I had a JL awhile back and the same thing happened to be, it's blown. Not fully mind you, but it's damaged and WILL get worse over time. JL subs are VERY sensitive to improper tuning, I tried pushing my tune too much and this is what happened. It happens when over powering it and/or turning up the bass boost too much on the amp, sorry to give you the bad news
