ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Deep Cycle Battery

So after no luck in finding an oddessey alt at the junk yard, I've decided to upgrade my battery after my big 3. I saw a kinetic audio battery on sonicelectronix for like 60 bucks. It says it handles 500watts, but doesnt say if its rms or peak.

About the deep cycle battery, Ive read that they really help alot when it comes to light diming but I know they are also really expensive. Well I went to a battery warehouse by my house today and saw asked about there deep cycle batteries. They have some by the brand Trojan and they have some good deals on them. New one would cost me 105 including tax, but if Im lucky enough to find a refurbished one, i can get it for 32 flat.

My question is, how do these stack up vs the kinetic audio battery, and vs an optima deep cycle battery?

Also, this battery is also marine if it matters, and Im either getting this one, or the kinetic, not the optima.

There's Meany different deep cycle batteries. I personally run kenetic and can say they hold up to what they say they do. I can't say for the other battery you said. I've never owned one. But I'm shure it'll hold up two just not as well. Kenetic rates on rms so 500rms. Hope that helps a little....

Thats good to hear as I am running 500rms. I forgot to mention that this will also be my main battery and not a second battery. IF this trojan deep cycle is actually good, lets say optima good, would it be better than the kinetic?

If your looking at this one http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...B-KHC600B.html it should be OK for a starter battery. It has 1000 cranking amps the other battery you can't run as a starting battery its not made for starting a car. Its basically a energy storage for your amp. You would add it in line to your stock battery.

If you don't want the Optima, you could try Duralast Platinum. They're glass (or fiberglass) batteries.

are you using the kinetik battery as the primary battery also or just for the audio?

Also batteries aren't rated in "watts." That's more of a selling thing that kinetic does.
I recommend an AGM (absorbed glass mat) type battery and not the gel like the optima is.
The battery may not stop your lights from dimming, fyi.

To contribute, I have a diehard platinum battery and its great so far. I haven't really pushed it yet though.

Nice.....But you could easily add a battery or cap,,,,and the cap its self would take the light dim away?I have a big memphis 1000x1 and 3 15's in my truck with a 1fr cap and extra battery and im strong..... no deep cycles,No dim.....I would just add a cap......
Only give advice when I know or have done it and it worked

I`ve got the Optima red top, serves me well. Ive also got a 1fr cap in between but if I could do it again id go for odyssey probably. Optima was available locally so that was my selling point at the time. Also they're made by interstate.

I've tried the optima red and yellow tops, an odyssey model i can't remember and some generic batteries from sears.

Red Top Optima has been the best overall performing battery by far. ALWAYS cranks over. Never left me stranded. Fixed the mild light dimming i've experienced with more powerful systems i've had.

The Odyssey i tried was cool due to it's size/weight advantages, but seemed to discharge more quickly when left sitting and failed to start the car twice after sitting for relatively short amounts of time.

optima red may be good but the yellows are terrible....4 dead within a year and a half
