ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Fuel Pump Relay?

    Hello!

Could anyone point me in the direction of fuel pump relay on my accord?
Car is 1991 Accord EX (2.0l carb)

I found some images on google but I don't have anything like that.
I know it is supposed to be under the driver side panel, somewhere, but cannot find it.

there are 2 suspects, but none of them seem to be the right one.

Give me an image of what it should look like..

    P.S.
I found one with connectors in a row 7, I think. Was snapped to a bracket right under the steering column. and the other one I think had 2x3 pinout. on the very left side.

Thats the main relay, its located a little to the left underneath the drivers side dash behind a gray flatish box (I think its some type of tranny module), that box is held in by 2 10mm bolts I believe. Once you remove the flat box thing, just unplug the main relay and and use a small flathead or something to pry it out of the holder because its clipped in there (like in the pic).

one is like this. This is definitely not the one, or is it?

and the other one. I removed it and started the car though, so this is also not the one.

and the tranny box you were talking about -- I don't have it either..

I suppose it is next to the "ECU" on the passenger side, under the carpet, because it is not the regular box. takes up almost all the width of the floor.

Yeah I just took a look at mine, maybe only autos have it IDK.

Naw nothing that has to do with the main relay is on the passenger side. The TCU and the ECU are there next to eachother over there but like I said, they don't have anything to do with what we are talking about.

Like I said bro, its there somewhere lol. That pic I posted is what it looks like, up under the driver's side dash. Try looking up a little higher when you are underneath. I tried to take a pic for you but I can't get enough light.

If you have a carbureted engine, you may not have one. Do you still have an electric fuel pump in the tank? I haven't ever dealt with a 91 with a carburetor, so I'm not sure.

yes. thatīs also the thing I considered -- that it might not have an electric pump in the tank. But from the other side -- it Should. I had and good old Lada, with carb and the pump was mechanical right on the side of an engine, as I suppose - mechanical is not there so there should be an electrical in the tank.

            anyway. a lot of non-sense!

You may ask why I am up to this?
so. one day I went to service to get my exhaust done. parked the car @ service. then I needed to move it - tried to start it, but nothing. cranks but no ignition. eventually - battery died. jumped from another one, and after a lot cranking -- it started.. didnīt smell like it was too much fuel, from cranking.

and today. same thing. if the car is cold -- starts right away. drove around, warmed up the car - shut it down. then tried to start it again --- nothing!

so this is why I started digging around the net to find a solution.

            any suggestions?

The carb does use an electric fuel pump.
I can't remember but I'm pretty sure it still has a main relay.
I'll check tonight, also why do you want to find it?
The wiring for the pump and sender can be found in the boot behind the rear seat.

EDIT - The first picture you posted is the fuel cutoff relay

Update: as from the service manual I have -- the black relay in the last picture is a light washer relay.

                  P.S.

What could be the problem if my mpg is very low? its like 11mpg (if I converted right. we have l/100km)
also when I rev up, and let the gas go - there is that rattling noise like misfire or something. (revving in neutral)

are the spark plugs asking for trouble?

How many L/100km (we do have members here from other countries, myself included) ?

Hard starting can also be caused by the fuel filter (clear plastic one by the tank) being blocked.
                    Change that before anything else.
