ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Here it is inside..... You can see it does lay on it, but with it being light weight plastic, and spray foam it forms around it without issues...

so you had to cut the pot at an angle to make it do that, and dent the side. I would still just get the EX pods.

no cutting of the pot, it bends really easy. ex pods for 6x9's would be nice, but this cost me like 5 bucks.... and sounds really good

I spent all sorts of time trimming my 6x9 pods to accept the type-r's and I went to throw them in and they dont fit thru the sheet metal. So I got some 1" MDF and 3/4 inch traced the pod shape and will mount the 6x9s to that and itll raise the speaker up enough so that the magnets a little below the sheet metal and theyll fit. The infinitys barely fit I had to trim about an inch off the drive side torsion spring for the magnet to clear on those..
I don't remember an aluminum basket... (it was years ago i put them in, and i no longer have the car...) I do remember having the magnet sort of wedged against one of the springs... But I didn't have to cut any sheet metal...

I have Type-R's in my LX, I'm using EX pods. I didn't have to cut or trim anything at all.

I guess I'll be the odd man out, I've seen a LOT better.

Also most car audio speaker manufacturers design their speakers to be ran IB (infinite baffle)...

True they do, but this has made a difference in sound quality.

Box building programs? My trunk has none of the original plastic trim nor the floor cardboard/carpet... so I was just gonna go with some thin MDF wood mixed with some fiber glass and make a custom trunk.

Well one thing is the width, and another factor is the depth. The size of the magnets can get in the ways of the windows or trunk rails.

Very true about the 6.5's I put some larger amp 6.5's in my doors and right now there not working to well. I can roll my windows all the way down due to the magnets... Im gonna end up buying some slim mount ones. and as for the rear deck, I dont know why but all the 6.5's Ive tried to put back there was a little larger than the plastic housing... So thats why I had to cut them a bit. (thought maybe it was for 6" only) but the pots just add a little deeper clearer bass for the rear and helps with the rattle.
