ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

How do you guys secure your Double Din HU?

I got a Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD, I installed it using the Metra kit but it's not secure as the OEM unit. You just slide it in to fit but nothing in the bottom or rear is bolted it down.
Is that how you guys installed yours? I looked at the OEM bracket and you can't use it with the double din, only with single din. Give me some ideas as to how you secure yours down to slow the removal for the thieves. Some pics would be nice.
As some of you guys know 2 weeks ago they stole my amps and sub boxes. It's only about $200 lost but they didn't take my HU b/c I had made a custom cover plate for the unit and at night, they can't see it. I probably won't be so lucky next time, so I just want to see if I could secure it better.
    Thanks.

Plumbers strap. The metal strips with the bolt holes in it. Cut it to length, screw to the holes in the radio, then screw to the dash. Put the dash back together and pop the metra kit in like a trim ring. I use the Honda double din kit like that on all types of cars when I got to cut the dash to get a double din to fit. I did a 02 escalade like that yesterday. Strap and a Honda
    Metra kit

Where you buy the Honda double din kit? Do you mean like the Metra and Scoches kits? What do you think of the Pioneer double din install kit?
Do you have to remove the dash board to do the strapping? Or just remove the shift assembly like when you remove the OEM cassette?
Could you take some pics of your work when you get a chance? I can't get my unit back in until I get the alarm system running. So right now, no sound in the car. Not driving it that much if at all, gas prices and bad driver's side bearing.
        Thanks.

I got a single din in my cb. Come to think about it, I got the factory brackets in mine. The pocket and the radio are screwed to the factory brackets. If I took the brackets off, I could screw them into the side of the double din.

And metra is the only brand I use..never let me down

I looked at the Honda OEM bracket, they are screwed on from bottom up. This bracket is designed for single din. Unless you are talking about other Hondas that came OEM with double din.
            Thanks.

I maybe wrong. I do so many head unit installs (around 400 a year) I don't really recall what the brackets looked like. I just figure it was like most that have a single din and a pocket. Just straight

Maybe I could try to find one that OEM comes with double din Hondas already. Those would do it.
Or just get the Pioneer kit.

Hey I just received my Pioneer AVH-P2400BT and got my metra double din kit. I'll be installing mine this weekend, I'll let you know how it went and try to take some pics if you still need them.

Heck ya. Please take pics. I am more interested on how you secure it to the dash. I have the Metra kit and it's just simple tiny screws to hold the plastic together and it can be slide in and out easily. For security purposes, I put velcro around the edges and make a hard card board piece just fit perfectly right over the unit. Then put it on whenever I leave the car. This really works as the thief didn't even see my double din when I stole my amps and sub out of the trunk. You should do this for extra security.

No doubt, I'll take some pics and come with something to secure it. On the mean time I've been looking around this site and came accross this, figure I'd share...

The dx models had the blockoff plate with no radio option.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

                        Retro!

I'd LOVE to have a double din radio, but I am just too paranoid about someone smashing my glass for it. Dummy covers just aren't convincing enough either, I think.

You know I saw that some time ago, but didn't want to pay $25-$30 for it. Even $20 is not worth it.

                              Here's mine.

Here's mine, that picture is day time and right in front of it. But at night, you can't notice and it matches perfectly to the dash. So when the thief is in a hurry, he can't see it, unless he knock it out, which is why I have velcro to secure it.
