ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    RF speaker works intermittently...

The previous owner put in some Sony speakers in the front doors that are in great shape. I tested and inspected them so I know that they are not the cause. All connections inside the door appear solid. So my question is... Could the speaker be going out due to a failed internal component with the factory head unit? Not sure if this is a common problem. If not, maybe a ground wire that tends to fail? One last bit, it comes on USUALLY if I crank up the volume or hit a hard bump. Makes me think the circuit it open somewhere if not a failed component.

P.S. - I am very proficient with soldering and circuitry engineering but of course, it works whenever I try to test it and I have not yet felt like opening up the head unit yet.

Sounds like a faulty speaker coil.
    How did you inspect them?

Really simple way to test - Swap the speakers.
If it still happens on the opposite door - The speaker is at fault.
If it still happens on the same door - The wiring/headunit is at fault.

Broken solder joint in the hu?

If you tested them properly, you would definitely be able to tell if your speaker was cooked.
I don't think your speaker is grounded...

To test the hu just tap it with a rubber mallet on the chassis. It will simulate going over hard bumps.

Yup. Looks like your best bet is to swap your speakers and see if the problem has moved to the other side.

I tested them by swapping them side to side (like someone mentioned). The fault was still on the right side. The ever perplexing part that I forgot to mention is that IF the speaker is NOT working and I turn the volume all the way down, it remains the only speaker that BARELY remains audible... I would think a bad ground would be ruled out by that but could be mistaken.
