well if u have a 91 coupe dx u know everything inside is manual and there are only speakers in the front 2 doors
what i did was remove the rear panel and cut 2 holes for 6 1/2s (now upgraded 2 6x9s) its very easy all i used was a grinder
i also added pictures of my old setup

6x9s are not an upgrade; the shape tends to cause distortion easier than a round speaker cone would. A higher wattage 6.5 would have been a better choice for clarity. Are you really getting much of the highs and mids from those 6x9s in the trunk?

With the subs in the trunk those 6.5s or 6x9s are worthless. The air pressure changes from the subs is just wreaking havoc on those deck speakers...

That's what I was thinking. The air from the subs has to be DESTROYING those 6x9s.

actually this sounds really loud louder than trucks n other cars i got a crossover so it sounds great plus when i put the back seat down the loudness is trully unleashd i should post up a vid now i have 3 12s though n its way louder

Was rear speakers optional on DX's or was it never an option and they just never had them?

with that size and many woofers in the trunk the rear speakers are useless.

when I had my 91 4dr I had 3 JL 12's in the trunk and 6 1/2's on rear deck I blew the shit out of them from the bass and those 6x9's arent doing you any good in the trunk.

if I where you I'd make a set of sealed pods for the rear deck and put them near the center and use the existing holes for the bass to come through thats what I ended up doing.

I've seen subs do some funny stuff to my rear 6.5s, namely making them distort. Gotta seal my back speaker pods.
