Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

If it's the new models, TSX definitely. I think the new TL & RL look aweful. and, even the previous generation, I'd still go with a 6spd TSX.2000 Acura TL-P - Daily

The TL is a boat. It's handling is extremely poor. Drop the clutch and you're going to lay a fat strip w/ trac. control off. It's torquey and I really like 4th gear because it just pulls.. V6 and they supercharge them but the car is huge. 5.1 surround sound is pretty cool tho, not sure if the tsx has that..
The tsx is a lot lighter, more compact, and basically a small TL. 4cylinder tho. Unless you're going for big baller status like a tl-s and just cruisin around town, get the tsx. It's more fun.
We had to put the A-Spec suspension on my brothers TL just to make it feel stable at 70+mph and it still doesn't even compare to my cb which only has sway bars/strut bars..
I honestly hate the way the clutch and shifter work on the TL, it feels like a fake plastic shifter, it's like not real, if doesn't feel right idk how to explain it and the engine holds the rpms up for a split second between gears so you don't get the "jerk" associated with shifting. It takes getting used to.
I say get the tsx and use the money that you would've spent to get the TL on some aftermarket. They look nasty with the A-Spec or type R lip kit and rims.

TL, no questions asked.
Whoever said the TL wasn't stable at 70MPH obviously had other issues.
We have an 06 Accord which is basically a TL with a different body and less aggressive suspension, and it is extremely stable at 115+.
It will also outrun and outhandle a stock CB7 no questions asked.
The TL-S is much more buttoned down and actually whipped the crap out of both an IS350 and a G35 sedan on the Streets of Willow by over 2 seconds.
And I can assure you that once you drive and romp on a J series, the K series will be severely lacking.

There are no other issues and it's a common problem on TL forums. Maybe stable isn't the right word, but you can't corner going fast and it... floats? Hard to desribe. The A-Spec suspension helped out a lot but we're still putting a progress rear bar on, then it should be nice. I drove both my brothers TL and my accord through the same road and my accord did it 15mph faster. That was before the A-Spec tho. btw my cb has st front/rear sway bars, megan front/rear strut bars, z rated 205 summer tires.

You are probably referring to the mismatched dampers which is NOT an issue on the post MMC cars. The Type S especially.Originally posted by MyCord View PostThere are no other issues and it's a common problem on TL forums. So your Accord has pretty heavily modified suspension then?Originally posted by MyCord View PostThere are no other issues and it's a common problem on TL forums. He has an 04 TL, manual. I wouldn't consider my accords suspension heavily modified, just sway bars and strut bars. The TL already has a front upper strut brace and rear sway bar, just not too thick.
The first time I drove it I thought it would be a machine in the corners and I almost slammed it into a cement wall because it couldn't even handle what my cb could with what I would consider, slight suspension modification.
I'm not going to argue about it. I've driven both and that's my experience.
here i found this post that kinda explains what i mean. Either way the TL is a great car and no matter what car you get anything can be changed, especially suspension.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
"I own a 2006 TL (purchased new) with automatic, 17" stock wheels. After 1,000 miles I went back to the dealer, Ron Tonkin Acura, Portland, Oregon to see how to upgrade the driving experience. I had driven an Integra ('91) which was a sporty little car, though I just gave it to my nephew with 145,000 miles I still loved it to the end. The TL is another story. I put the A-Spec suspension kit (shocks & springs) on the vehicle. I did not purchase any other components and from my investigations Ron Tonkin was the only dealer who would do this. Most wanted the whole A-Spec kit which is too much money. The results: Reduced the floating feeling at highway speeds, much more sporty feeling with a little harsher ride, due in part by the increased tire pressure recommended to me of +4 pounds over factory psi recommendations for front and rear tires.A number of people reviewing tires at TireRack.com site commented that added tire pressure improved handling. A friend of mine who owns a wheel shop advised same to me. Was it an improvement? Yes, but it still feels sloppy at highway speeds when accelerating in a curve and you hit a bump or when getting off a freeway that has a curved exit. From comments about tires, not many people like the factory Bridgestone Turanza EL42 tires, which my car came with ,though everyone seems to have their own favorite tire. The one thing they had in common was that the Turanza was too soft, flexing too much when pressed. Many said they were garbage. I concur completely. It's been years since I had a BMW, purchased new, but I remember I loved the road feel in the steering. The TL doesn't feel solid at highway speeds and I drive 75-80 most of the time. Even with 18" wheels I still see car reviews describing the new 2007 TL/TL TYPE S as front heavy 60/40 front/rear distribution. My guess is, the guy who wrote that he drives a Porsche 911, and his wife the TL, is correct when he says you will never get it to have a true road-handling feel due to front wheel drive. My verdict is the same. I want to love my TL as the fit and finish is superb as is the transmission. I feel very attuned to what my car is doing most of the time. I would never again buy an automatic, though it is quick. Until ACURA adds AWD or goes RWD they are not going to capture the BMW loyalist, nor satisfy the ACURA loyalist who wants that spirited driving feel. Lastly, the sport suspension will lower the vehicle about 3/4". The springs and shocks are approx 30-40% stiffer, enough to make a difference and if you have better tires than the Turanzas, you might be happier than I am. "
