Potential safety related threads

Its starting to become far too common now, and I'm tired of seeing new threads asking:
"how do I cut my springs", "How do I fix a broken balljoint", or "How can I stop the ABS / SRS light coming ON" etc because the OP doesn't want to "waste" the money actually fixing the problem.

If there is a problem with your car, By all means you can ask us how to fix it (theres no issues there), but don't expect a nice reply if your asking "how can I bypass a safety issue, in-order to "pass inspections, cause I want my car slammed, because you think you have to, or make your girlfriend happy""

The answers to ALL problems can be found here by either - Looking through the stickies, searching, or making a new thread.

Just don't make new threads asking how to get AROUND safety issues.

But I only gotz $50 and I want to slam my shit yo! can i cut my springs with a torch? My girlfriend's brother's friend's dad's cousin's plumber knows a guy who's dad did that to his 62 GTO and it was great. He's still driving that car. Original shocks, too.

and after i slam my shit im gonna spray my balljoints with wd40 cuz da bootz ripped off last year n i dont want em to dry out cuz dats unsafe knowutimeen?

But in all seriousness... I totally agree. If something is unsafe for your engine, fine... risk it, blow the engine, and we'll say "I told you so". If something is unsafe when control of the vehicle is concerned, only the CORRECT information should be given on this site. If someone asks about an unsafe method, they clearly know it exists. They can make their own decisions... but I don't want them to make a bad decision based on information they got here.

It's not so much people asking how to cut corners... it's people telling those people that it's a good idea to do so.

They don't know any better. When you tell someone that doesn't know any better that something stupid is a good idea, they believe you. I have 19,000 posts... trust me... people would believe just about anything I say on here based on that number under my name alone!

Kids with no money want to believe that they can do something cheap. If someone tells them that it's safe, they're willing to believe it. It's HARD to convince someone otherwise, when they don't want to believe it. Nobody wants to believe that a safe suspension modification can't be done for under $500.

Amen. I have seen what cut springs does to cars. Youtube it, google picture it, or go look at some of these jy cars, they all bear the same mark, the one of a torch &/or cutting wheel...

Agreed, it would be a shame for a member to get hurt because of safty bypassing advice given from cb7tuners...
