ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Do they spray salt on the east coast roads?

So the snow could melt and turn into water, yes.

For our cb7's yes, we get alot of rust in the quarter panels cause of the salt.

Not true. The main reason for rust around the rear wells is the plastic trim piece Honad put around the lip of the well to prevent rust. (Ironic, ain't it? )

Lots of places use brine on the roads, it's cheaper and quicker acting than plain salt would be. Especially as a pre-treatment. They can spray the roads before hand, it'll dry on the pavement and get re-activated by the snow hitting it and melting.

I know all about salt, and corrosion.

Come up here for a week, drive around, and look at your car afterwards. You'll cry.

Yes, we do use salt on the paved roads up here, sand on the dirt roads. A lot of both.

              life is good.

Thanks guys, I was thinking to buy a east coast car for a cheaper price from the west coast because the car I saw had rust and they were selling it for cheap. 2002 civic with major rust from the rear panel for 2,100 with only 101,000 miles, I think that's a fair price to me.

Brine became popular around here a few years ago. We used to have salt spreaders going around all the time (sucked to drive past one on the highway... and they go 20mph, so you have to... and you get shot with salt!) This year, we had record snowfall, and I don't recall seeing any salt being spread! I'm sure it was... but all roads were pre-treated with brine. At first, it was highways only, but now they even do little back roads like mine.

A 2002 Civic with major rust? Damn.

Take advantage of your location and buy a nice rust free car. It'll be cheaper in the long run than repairing a rotted out car. However our interiors stay nice since we don't have harsh sun and a dry climate like out there.

They use salt mixed with sand around here, whenever the roads are wet my car turns white. Thats why I drive a $400 Civic in the winter now.

My Fit is crusty too. I run it through a touchless carwash once or twice a week to rinse that crap off.

A proper rust repair is MUCH more expensive than buying a car with no rust.
