ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

personally i think the blacked out lights look good on a cb7. maybe you should post some pictures if you want people to judge your cars looks.

Universal "ricer" parts are basically what you just mentioned... a large useless wing, a poorly fitting and unpainted bodykit, tasteless decals, gaudy wheels...

Really, it's just a matter of opinion. To the guy down the street with a Camaro, the nicest looking Honda in the world may be a "ricer".

The general concensus seems to be anything that is gaudy, functionless (at least for the application...), or obviously cheap looking.

I moved this thread to Off Topic. I DO agree that it's a valid appearance question, but it leaves itself wide open for post-whoring noobs... and I'd rather not have that. I mean no offence to you, hmchaos.

thanks.i love quick replys.this i get^, i was just wanting some input from my peers. it seems biased of a camero driver to judge an import anyway. you all know bout american muscle heads.it means more to me to hear what other cb owners think.

            whoring...got it.sorry

Nah, you're not whoring... but I can just see a ton of people coming in here saying "rice is a big wing n shyt yo!" just to get their count up!

But yeah, it's really based on opinion. I had bronze wheels on my car, and they were called rice. I have a Maaco paint job, which was called rice. However, I like the wheels, and they go with my gray/bronze/amber color scheme... and I beat on my car too much to get a good paint job, so Maaco suits me just fine.

Overall, what you like is what matters. If you want to paint your car orange and put the cyborg decal from the F&F Supra on the side... who cares. If you like it, that's all that matters!

people that say giant wings are rice are usually simple minded, ive been looking back in my chronicles of super street and sport compact car (have had subscriptions since 2002) and i noticed that there was just as much JDM as there is now but rice (GT Style) has morphed into track style. the main difference being that "ricers" knew their cars would rarely if ever see a track so instead of gutting and caging their car they put in giant stereos and PS2s.

GT Style is the most common rice i think because people see 2 fast 2 furious and say "aaw geez them shytz am da bomb brah!"

But my defination of rice is...

Rice: Poor execution of modifying a car regardless of style.

                examples:

JDM Rice (too many jdm goodies and carbon fiber):

                Domestic Rice:

                GT Style Rice:

They rise their wooden pints and they yoik and sing
And they fight and dance 'till the morning

They call me a ricer just because i'm lowered....what the hell?

For me a ricer is, cheap imitation and funtionless add ons, like fender vents on a stock domestic or import. Or those stick-on hood scoop vents.

The name "ricer" is now overrated, right now everyone who drives any kind of import is a ricer, you tint your tailights, you're a ricer. If you're a underpowered 4cyl, you fall into the ricer catergory.

I use to care but right now, not so much. I'll rock my cb7tuner.com stickers even when they call it rice.

the way I see other's define rice is anything unecessary on a vehicle(i.e. underglows, large spoilers on cars that just don't match right, stars, large excessive decals, fart cannons). If you dress your'e car to look fast, but have done nothing to make it fast, then that is considered rice.

Now if you look at the way trash talking V8 E-thugs talk about imports on Youtube, it's any Asian import vehicle is rice.

I mat be a little off here, but I thought the term "ricer" came from he bike world. It was always said that Jap. bikes were "rice burners", mostly by the people who drove Harley's. Somewhere along the lines it came to the car world and now applies to anything import and even some domestics(Neon's and such).

Back in the day, any vehicle that came out of Japan was deemed a "rice burner". The term has been shortened to apply to any car now that's covered in crap to make it look faster than it is. Someone has this definition of rice in their sig, but I don't remember who: Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement. Basically anything that adds weight but doesn't serve a purpose. FWD cars don't need a drag wing. A nicely done body kit doesn't bother me. It's an appearance mod.

I don't understand how underglows became considered rice, they're an appearance mod, and not intended to make the car look fast. They started with domestic hot rods, and eventually bled over into the import community.

IMHO, do what you want to your car, but if you're trying to make it look fast, it better be fast.

like Deev said, its up to the person looking at it.

people actually say rice stands for "Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements". basicly meaning not functional. its only there for looks. but if thats the truth then, Nardi Wheels are rice, blackhoused headlights are rice, decals are rice, anything that isnt adding horsepower or helping the handling or aerodynamics of the car is rice. so everyone in the tuner world would be considered a ricer because everyone has something on the car just for looks and not performance.

but not everyone in the tuner world is a ricer. i define ricers as the idiots who think they're car is fast just because they have a body kit, spoiler and a 4" muffler and think their fast. THAT is a ricer. body kits can look good if you take the time to make it do so. Boost_Lee is a perfect example.

                              as for this Skyline:

theres nothing rice about this car. the CF is there for performance reasons. its a track car. CF is lighter than the metal body panels. thus making the car lighter. decals are there for sponsors and the design is probably something the company decided to put on to look different from the other teams out there.
