The Metro has a lot of potential, actually. It's the same as the Suzuki Swift. In Japan, the Cultus (which is a badass name... ) The Cultus GTi came turbo and AWD.
The Cultus was also one of the best cars you could get in GT2 (yes, I know... video game... but still!) I can't find any record of that car existing in real life, though I wouldn't doubt someone has done it.
