ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Well thanks to this song, i'll be waiting for the next Korean song to hit the US radio waves. Let's see who it is although i'm crossing my fingers for some Drunken Tiger.

Not to be a hater , but I never understood what's the fuzz about this? It's just a guy doing stupid dance moves. Maybe I'm just getting to the point I'm being an old coot.

Haven't watched and don't care too, but all this talk of Korea makes me miss it.

I spent a year there with the Army in Seoul and it rocked.

                          A lot of fun!

I'd love to see Korea. My wife was born there but was adopted shortly after her birth. We both talk about wanting to go and see her heritage. And I'd like to checkout all the sites, and eat the authentic food. Sometimes I don't think my old lady understands how cool asian culture really is...

Ralphie, what would you recommend we see?

Ya Korea is a wonderful country.

When I first got orders to go I was a little disappointed lol. I had been hoping for orders to Germany as I wanted to explore Europe, but after a month in Korea, I was in love.

There are 100s of things to see, and you won't see them all in one trip(like most countries).

Some things I can recommend are-

                              In Seoul-

Electronics Market- This is a mall I guess, it's like 4 floors of Electronics...anything and everything you can think of. They have a floor for just computers, one for home audio(they have shit Ive never even seen before), one for musical equipment, cell phones, games, dvds.....EVERYTHING! They even mod game systems there(I got my ps2 chipped in 2005 there)

                              The War Memorial- http://www.warmemo.or.kr/eng/main/main.jsp
Has a fuck ton of aircraft on display from the war over 50 years ago.

In Seoul outside the US Army camp in Yongsan, there is a village called Itaewon.
Has really good shopping, you can get custom made suits for < $200 ....you pick the fabric whether its Armani, Ralph Lauren Etc....lots of barganing and just a cool place. Also they have some good places to get food etc.

Yongsan Fast Food- This place is what we call in America "a hole in the wall." It is right outside Gate 3 of the Yongsan Army post....the food is delicious and its cheap! I recommend the Beef Bulgolgi!

COEX Mall- Asia's largest underground mall, 85,000 square meters....actually located in Gangnam-Gu.

Seoul Tower, located in Yongsandong on Namsen Mountain.....its the highest point in Seoul....you can eat there and go up and see an AMAZING view of the city. It might not be Toyko but its beautiful in its own right.

Lotte World-A major amusement park in Seoul, its basically their version of Disneyland. It has an indoor park opened year round and an outdoor one as well. Its fucking huge, has awesome food, and some pretty cool rides! This can easily eat up a single day!!!! I went there with a bunch of people from my Unit. We had a blast!

                              Outside Seoul-

If you go for long enough and can see more then just Seoul, I recommend trying to see the countryside as well.

One of the easiest ways(and fastest) is the KTX rail line. It is a high speed rail line that traverses the majority of South Korea. They are currently expanding the lines even further. I used it to access Daegu(which by car would be about 5 hours) but via KTX, took about 2-3hrs. It travels at around 190MPH(305 kmh)
Pretty fucking cool. Each car has independent suspension so you feel almost nothing and rolling through the countryside is really impressive when you see the fields of crops and farmers working. Its very beautiful.
Here is a picture of the KTX train

So in any case, Daegu is a pretty cool place as well.

If your into hiking, I recommend Apsan Mountain park.
                              http://tigersandmagpies.com/2011/04/...mountain-park/
I hiked it, and while it isn't for the faint of heart, it is well well worth it and not even that bad. There are actual rest stops along the way and some even have workout benches with free weights!!!!! It's crazy! The view is simply stunning.

If your into outdoor stuff as well as the wife, this site has some pretty good reviews-http://tigersandmagpies.com/

Osan in Korea is pretty cool too....its where the major air force base is located....the town outside the base is cool and very artsy.....but it isn't much different then Yongsan as far as ammenities.

The last thing and most historical is the DMZ.

                              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_Demilitarized_Zone

Like an asshole I never made it up there(its north of Seoul). Most of my travels were South bound.

I wanted to go with some guys from work but we never made it up there and I regret it to this day.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

My parents lived in Korea for about a year during the Korean war, so I've been eating "authentic" Korean(so to speak) for years. I love Bulgolgi and kimchi

From what my mother says, the place has really changed since 1975...
