ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    1993 JDM Honda Accord

I was thinking about picking this up as a daily, thoughts?

Edit: well, decided to pass on it.

That looks an awful lot like a "subtle" attempt to sell with one post...

edit: it's also in no way JDM.

Never owned a honda before and I am new to these type of engine swaps. I asked a friend who knows cars but also said to check with forums. Just wanted other opinions as well. I didn't even know what BARd meant until I researched.

Not a damn thing about that is JDM besides the engine.
At least the engine came from the best possible source.

The black fenders and bumper make me think the car was in an accident.
The seller says it'll be BAR'd before the sale, so that's good. It would definitely be shady if he just said "everything is ready to go, you just need to get it BAR'd." Because that would mean "I can't make this legal, and I want it to be your problem instead of mine!"

I can't tell if the swap was done correctly from pictures. It's clean, so that's good. If the swap was done well, and the car isn't missing anything important... unless you think power steering is important, because this car does not have it. Depending on how the power steering has been removed, it could result in a dried out rack and pinion. Inquire about that before buying. The rack would have needed to be converted to "manual", or at least the lines should have been looped with fluid in them.

The price is only a little more than what the H22 swap with M2B4 trans would be worth, however. So if the swap was done correctly, and the rest of the car is in decent condition, it's not an unfair price.
The seller does seem to know what he's talking about. I've seen ads where all the "custom" stuff is listed, and there are errors like crazy. I didn't notice anything in the description that made think this seller was full of shit.

Check it out. Ask about the power steering, ask why the black fenders and bumper are there. Inspect the suspension components (especially ball joints) to be sure they're in good shape... and it could be worth the purchase.

                  Thank you for the info!
When I spoke to him, he said the car is prepped for BAR but he has not BARd it, that I would have to get it BARd. After reading you reply now it seems shady. I do not want to be stuck with it in trying to make it legal.

However, I am going to ask about the power steering.

Yeah, I wouldn't buy that car if it wasn't BAR'd first. If it's 100% legal, it's worth buying... as long as it all checks out.

When you guys refer to it as no way JDM - What does that mean?

JDM means "Japanese Domestic Market". It means that it was intended for sale in Japan. Japanese cars have the steering wheel on the right side. This is a USDM car. The engine is JDM, nothing more.
Also, it doesn't really matter. People just like to say JDM because it gets the kiddies all excited.

However most Accords where made in good old Ohio.

Legal status in California in terms of emissions. It's why swaps are a serious pain in the ass there.
