go to some place where you can buy it and return it and try some different ones and see which you like, yea stay under 300 but above 150, because cops always make upgrades every year too just like the radars, so you dont wanna waste major bank and not have it work in a couple years, my cobras great, i got the one with the POP radar detector

my bro has a valentine- look in like modified mag or somthing they usually sell thoughs, and it works like a champ- hasnt proven us wrong....

i know they also make diffusers/detectors.... like the K-40 which is garunteed to scramble the cops detector or they pay all your tickets for one year straight garunteed.

the K-40 gos inside your front and rear bumpers and you get two sensors in your gauge that blink when theres a cop. 2000$ and its yours, sounds worth it if i had that kind of cashiesh

No, laser jammers/scramblers/blinders are all illegal.

I have a cobra, the one with the POP detector as well, that I paid about 160 for and it works fine. And you may have the best radar detector in the world but if you drive stupid then you will still get tickets.
Radar detectors are legal in most states. I know they are ILLEGAL in NY though.

The valentine 1 is very good, but it's not the only good one. The beltronics v955's beat it out now in many cases with valentine winning in laser, and at half the price that's something worth looking into. Not to mention you can get one with a few less bells and whistles in the form of a $150-$160 v940, with the exact same detection capabilities as the 955. If you search for detectors on google you should easily be able to find this retired sherif's website, where all he does is explain radar detectors and test them and tell you how best to use them.

Best placement for your detector is in the center of your windshield, as low as possible. Cops aim for your headlights or license plate, particularly with laser, which won't be picked up if your detector is up too high. He said laser has a 3ft radius, so at the bottom center of your windshield you should just barely be able to catch a laser signal in time(if that's what your cops use.) Still, if you put it there it's the center-most point when you consider where a cop will be aiming from.

i know VA is one of them. my friend has a 850 horsepower supra that has a radar jammer built into the frame. its awesome. scares the hell outta me tho. T88 turbo FTW!!!

radar detectors are legal everywhere except virginia and DC.

You guys have them confused with the radar jammers which are illegal in many states.

but when I get a car worthy of it, I will use it anyways because the po po sucks.

i love my bel v995, as with any radar dector if a cop has a laser gun and points it at you your pretty much screwed if your speding.

Bestbuy or circuitcity, i would recomend getting the proection plan on em if you live in a hot area, cause leaving it on the dash while its sunny out equals fried dector.
