Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

If you want a cheap price, get a Megan header from ebay.Originally posted by tear2wowhat are some popular yet $ friendly headers for the 92 accord? im getting tired of seeing my heatshield and id enjoy the extra horsepower. i think itll be the perfect mod before my h23 plenum swap.
I got mine for $120.00
I rock a megan for 5 months now. It turned blue already, but is sounds like a beast at high rpms.

First, we have an inline four, so it's just one header. Second, which engine is in your car? the f22a4 already has a 4.2.1 tube header, the a6 has a 4.2.1 cast header. I personally think the a4 header would look damn sexy cleaned up. I dig the rough welded, did-it-myself look it has, but an aftermarket header definitely brightens up the engine bay, and I've noticed a difference in the upper rpm range since I installed mine. You can pick up a cheap one off ebay that will give you performance, but the quality is low and the welds will start breaking and you'll be less than happy with it down the road.

Get a DC Sport header. I've got NO complaints since owning it from may of 2005. I've even reused the crush gaskets they've supplied and it still doesn't leak. Those Megan headers are good, but the gaskets leak like a bitch.

You won't see a significant gain over the F22A6 manifold from anything cheap. If you get a new header, you're getting it for looks only. You can weld in a larger collector for some better gains, but that will double the cost of the header.
If you want real gains, hold out for the Bisimoto header. It should be out soon. Otherwise, Megan Racing is decent. DC Sports is more expensive, but also decent. Neuspeed is cool if you can find one. I've only seen one in my lifetime.
Kamikaze is supposed to be the best gain on the market right now, but HondaFan81 has one, and says it's garbage. I'd trust his judgment.

Okay I've decided to get the Megan headers. Where would be the best place to get them? I googled them and their website said $159.99. Is this the best price or should I get I threw ebay?Originally posted by deevergoteYou won't see a significant gain over the F22A6 manifold from anything cheap. how hard is the installation? i searched and theres no diy on this. i think i have to lift the car in order to put the header on but i dont have jackstands.Originally posted by 604_SEget the megans... best bang for the buck & megan stuff is actually pretty good!
if you got the money get dc headers and if your really ballin' get bisi's headers

Again, we only have one header.
Ebay is probably best for the Megan header.
To install, you unbolt it from the head, and unbolt it from the cat, and replace the old with the new. The hardest part is breaking through the rust. Get some PB Blaster.
If you can't do it without lifting the car, then yeah... up it goes. If you don't have jackstands... BUY SOME! Or borrow some. Don't be stupid and go yanking on things under the car with just a jack holding it up...

Installation isn't terribly difficult. You might have to move an AC line, and you'll probably want to spray some pb blaster on all the nuts and bolts. Just unbolt the OEM manifold from the head, break it loose from the cat and seperate the mani from the downpipe, take the two pieces out and the replace them. If you're not comfortable or don't feel confident in your abilities to turn a wrench, take it to a shop, but I don't know what they will charge you.
And go buy some jackstands. They aren't expensive, and if you plan on doing any car work, they are irreplaceable. Never never never get under your car and wrench, tug, push, pull bang, thump anything unless it's on stands. Some safety glasses are nice too. You'll end up with rust and greasy dirt in your eyes without them, guaranteed. lol
And after you get the header on and tightened down (there is a correct order to tighten the header bolts to prevent warping the flange or damaging the head itself, I can't remember it, but basically you want to evenly apply pressure, I start in the middle and work my way back and forth to the outside, torquing a little more each time until it's tight) but before you start the car, clean your fingerr/handprints off of it. That way it will color evenly and look nicer after it gets hot. I got mine used and the coloration looks like crap because the previous owner left it dirty and then got it hot.
*edit* postus interruptus owns me, deev got his in while I was interrupted in the middle of typing mine!
