ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Thats a bummer! I wish you guys luck... I've got some bad rust INSIDE my trunk... I'm debating on whether to just get a CLEAN CB shell for a new project or if I should take it in to a shop and get it fixed... It's hella expensive for rust repair... My quarter panels are going to cost me 1300 alone...

Definitely try to get it stopped, but if it was my ride, I'd be looking for a clean shell. That rust is horrible and in a bad bad spot to try to repair. My condolences.

The only problem I would have with the rust nuetralizer is that it would not have the structural integrity of the original (before rust) metal. On helofast's it looks like you may be able to get away with just sanding it out and prepping and painting it, provided that is all the deeper it has gone. On JDM Certified's it looks like patch panels are in order. I say "looks" because I am no professional, but on helo's it appears to be a bunch of surface rst that is ready to head deeper. But on JDM Certified's it looks as though you can see through some of.

                    Edited for miswording.

I agree with bluecb7. JDM_Certified needs some welding done. Helo could just clean it out and primer it, and then get some frost white and finish it. I don't know if I would grind it, though. A wire wheel attachment for a drill works very good, and you won't burn through the metal like you would with a grinder. The metal there is very thin, all the more thinner because of the rust.

You could bondo it; be sure to get the fiberglass reinforced bondo, though, because it will make a stronger patch than just bondo. I don't think I would go more than 3-4 square inches with just bondo, though. It's made to smooth over a dent/rough spot, not to fill in holes.
