ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Heat Soak???

After a hard drive when the ignition is shut off, don't the fans come on to cool the engine? A heat soak cycle to cool the engine down???

My fans did come on after I turned the car off, but recently it no longer does. In fact my fans don't seem to come on at all.

Therefore I think this has something to do with another major issue which is sometimes after a hard and hot drive, after I shut the car down for a minute to go to a store and come back, the car doesn't want to start. The dash lights come on, I get no fuel pump noise or main relay click and after the key is turned, nothing. No started crank or anything. I had to open the hood and let it cool down for like half an hour, then it will start.

I just replaced the main relay a couple of months ago so it shouldn't be that. This problem happened a few weeks after I replaced it so a brand new MR from the dealer can't for bad that fast $90!!

Anyways I think my fans not working lead to the engine remaining hot after a drive, the metal soaks up the heat and it seems like a fuel issue, maybe the fuel injection module gets overheated or something.

I really want to solve this issue so I don;t get stranded somewhere and today I got home from work and wanted to go to the gym but the bitch of a car did it just now so I have to skip my grappling class because of it.

so I want to see if I can get the fans working if it will solve the issue. is there a way to jump a circuit and see if my coolant temp sensor is bad or something.

    Please help me out!

the fans on my 90 never did, but the fans on my 93 always do

      that doesn't really help much

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

my fans always come on after a decent warm drive about 1 min after shutoff. I drive a 1990 LX Coupe. I usually let the fans run they're regular 5 minute cycle before I start the engine up again. Im very gentle with my car, I don't even put the car in D4 until after it has warmed up for 5 min and idle has gone down. Bad girl is almost 20 years old. Classic soon!

If your coolant temp sensor was faulty you should be able to tell by the coolant gauge on the gauge cluster not working as normal. I would suggest checking voltage at the fan motor useing a voltometer. IF the voltage is low, then you have a problem in the wiring if its normal (should be around 12.6V, not positive though) then there is probaly a burn't out fan motor.

Plus, I have seen to similar problems on accords...
                1. When engine reaches normal operating temperature, engine dies and wont start till engine is cooled off. Fix: Distributor Cap. Reason: Cracks on the inside of the cap around the points, causeing alot of misfires.

                2. Car starts good first time of the day, then warmed up to operating temp. and shut off car won't start till cooled down, and if it didnt start the first try, then another 15 min. wait would follow to try again. Fix: Fuel pump relay Reason: Faulty fuel pump relay

Hopefully this is some sort of help.

where exactly do I check voltage and is the fuel pump relay the same as the main relay? because I sawpped that 2 months ago, it can;t fail in only 2 months.

dist cap was changed lat summer, but one screw broke in the distributor housing so the cap doesnt sit flush, there is a slight gap so maybe that causes premature wear. I'll open it up to see.

There should be an eletrical connector/plug on or leading off the fan motor, unplug and check power there.

I think the main relay and fuel pump relay are the same.

And trust me parts can go out on cars within two months.
I just replaced a powersteering pump on an astro van today and the brand new pump was defective. I see it all the time at work, so parts are just not put together correctly. I would see if you could take that relay to the dealer and have them warranty it.
