ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Changing axle

2moro i will be attempting to change that ol' axle of mine.

Got the Haynes manual, breaker bar, two-jaw puller for the ball joint, and sockets and wrenches.

the axle is already out of the intermediate shaft so I dont have to worry about prying it out. the only problem i think i will have is with the freakin axle nut. I dont know how im going to unstake it because it is staked down pretty far and i cant even get a big screwdriver underneath it. any suggestions?

Is there anything else im missing or need to know?

Try using a chisel to unstake the nut. Make sure you have a huge breaker bar ready if you don't have air tools.

I had to cut the spline nuts off mine, and I'm not the first. I used a dremel and cut off wheels, but a grinder would be good too.

Those 36 mm axle nuts are 180-200 ft pounds tight they are a bitch to get off you will need a real good 1/2 breaker bar or 3/4 " drive and 3-4 foot cheater pipe to get them if you dont have air/impact, as far as unstaking get a small center punch and you may have to grind a point on it to get underneath the stake and take your time and work it under till you can get a good bite and smack it good. Also if you have access to a ox- cety torch heat them up it really helps.and neversieze compound the nut upon reassembly. Good luck

Are There Any Other Ways To Get The Lower Ball Joint Off Cuz Its Giving Me Hell Right Now. The Two Jaw Puller Keeps Slipping Off When I Tighten It.

Pickle fork works good but might tear the boot.

Don't worry about the ball joint puller....

I can't find it, but a little over 2 months ago, someone posted a link to youtube showing a guy breaking a lower ball joint with nothing but a jack and a giant screw driver. (I think) Look for it. Also, dremel cut the notch in the axel nut, then have a buddy stand on the brakes when you try to break the bolt. It helps a little.

Back the castle nut off till its flush with the ball j stud then carefully take a bottle jack and place it directly on the nut and stud apply some weight and check it sometimes a good smack on the surrounding area and it'll pop, if not jack a little more the weight off the car seems to always work for me, just use jack stands for safety neversieze it when you put it back together and it come apart eazier next time.

                              Axel Broke?

Is this a normal thing to happen to your axel on the passenger side? sounds a bit complicated to get this done yourself? I have read all of the info given and am going to give it a shoot wish me luck, I was taking a corner and the CV joint just busted, funny thing is that its going to cost me less to fix it then to get the tow from london to my new house in ingersoll! and CB7 owners here?
