Whats up with these front rotors? Turning out to be a pain. I figured just pull the wheel a few screws and bam, rotor off. Ive got a 24" snap-on ratchet and socket on that center nut and am standing on it and bouncing, cant break it loose. I already tapped out the section locking it to the shaft. I tried both directions after spraying some pb blaster. I work on big diesels for a living, those things have 4" wheel nuts on some of them. I underestimated how much grief my honda was going to give me. If I was at work I would probably just buzz that nut off with a 3/4" impact gun.

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

You're trying to take off the spline nut on the axle? I had to cut mine off. And when you do get it off? The rotors are pressed on.
This might help:

Its seems pretty straight forward. Pull the wheel, pull the axle nut and drive the axle out of the hub. I have a big brass drift I will bring home from work for that. The rotor is not pressed on, its held to the hub with four bolts, once they are removed you can spin the rotor freely.
Wed3k, Is this honest advise, or sarcasm. Just checking
. But I honestly think it will take the 3/4 to get those babys off. Left hand or right threads? I tried both directions with my 24" ratchet, didnt budge,
Thanks."Brought to you by Carls Jr."

Righty tighty, lefty loosey. Thanks wed3k, I guess ill be bringing that 3/4 impact home. You use a 3/4 impact on head bolts. Are you a diesel mechanic like myself? Because on my honda head my electric snap on 3/8 impact pulled those without breaking a sweat. I use a 3/4 impact to pull head bolts on a Cummins ISX and those are torqued at 300ft. lbs. + 90 degrees turn. Even then only a good impact and 5/8" air line will break them loose. Im still new to this small stuff, but I think my honda head torqued to 78ft lbs. I could break that loose with a ratchet. A cummins ISX has the same displacement as 7 f22's.
I should post a dyno sheet next time I run our chassis dyno.
600 hp at 1800rpm
2150 ft lbs at 1400
Hows that for torque?
Perhaps your thinking of a 1/2" impact that you use."Brought to you by Carls Jr."

Machine shop, sweet. Its cool to be able to speak with someone with hands on engine experience. Big diesels or small gassers, its doesnt matter. When you look at the basics its all 100 year technology. The only advances are in air handling and fuel managment. But at the heart of it all is an internal combustion engine converting linear motion into rotational energy. Its just an air pump and power is achieved by how much pressure you can make in that cylinder without breaking something. Its just a big bullet attached to a rod.
Ive been a diesel tech for about 16 years now, work in a engine machine shop for 3 of those years.
Anyhow, keep an eye for my posts. Because I do appreciate any advise you have to give me, you have far more experience with these cb7's than I do. If you ever have a question regarding Cummins engine give me a holla.

An old timer tought me a trick years ago about freeing up frozen bolts. You heat up the bolt almost red, then you take some paraphin wax and rub it around the base of the threads. The wax melts and seeps down the threads and frees it up. Just plain white wax chunks that they sell at craft stores, if the wax catches fire its to hot. It actually works and have used that technique few times when other extractors have failed. I doubt that guy is still living, gotta respect the old timers in our trade.Last edited by totaldoughnut; 09-10-2008, 03:48 AM."Brought to you by Carls Jr."
