ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    SRI for cheap. DIY.

I'ma start off with a joke. "Dude Johnny told me you can totally get 40whp using a folgers coffee can on yer exhaust. More flow dude, doesn't bog the engine down!"

Ok y'knuckle heads, down to srs bsnss!

    You need:

    SRI Air filter.
    4 inches of a 3" x3"pipe.

That's it. Why spend 30 bucks on ebay, let alone 300 on AEM when your pre-existing black rubber intake does a damn fine job? Just stick a coupler from autozone in it and add your choice of air filter. The pipe cost me a buck and fifty, the air filter, which was spectre cost me 24 bucks. Cheapest on ebay is 30-ish. You could probably snag an air filter and pipe for even less if you look around but im lazy.

I've heard of people going even further while on budget and just removing the piping connected to the air box and etc, cut a bigger hole and deem it their new intake, costs practically nothing at all but looks horrid imho and you dont get to keep the airbox if you ever wanna resell it.

I think this has been covered a dozen or more times now... but good to see people are still using their noodles when it comes to cheap performance.

I bought my SRI pipe off ebay for $10 shipped... Then $25 for a K&N cone Filter on sale at AutoZone.. $35 is not bad for a SRI, especially with the K&N cone Filter

I figured it might have been covered... didn't bother to check. Soz'

Polishin mah throttle body now, nasty gunk is on the brass colored flap... blegh. Can't wait for tomorrow evening after work when i get to fire up my car and hear the SRI.

Checked yers out dewds, good stuff, I got an idea though, use the coupler THEN add some heat wrap to it, should prevent burning into the rad hose completely, i also got this idea to pop some holes into my hood in a certian place to let some cool air in, but i worry about rain f-ing up the electronics and battery.

i would never put holes into my hood for any reason.

just make a DIY grill using mesh from the hardware store and then using washers raise the rear of the hood up. while driving around that should allow a lot of cool air in and out the back.

The reason so many people use the aftermarket tubing is there is less turbulence. The ridges in your stock plastic make a small, but measurable difference.
