ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

new CB owner with some quesitons

    whats up guys

just picked up my first CB7 earlier this week, and have a few things i need info on.

i used the search function for a full day before i even registered so i have searched.

first and most important, the heater doesnt work!

i dont know if its just the blower motor or something else, or even if its the switch. how hard is it to get to the heater core harness plugs to check for power and see if the blower motor is working?

also how do i pop the switch out? i had a switch go bad on a previous vehicle i had so i figured that would be something to test also.

problem number two is i think my transmission cable is stretched, its an auto. i shift from park into reverse, and then have to pull it half way into neutral for it to actually engage reverse. same thing with drive. can i adjust it at all or do i need to replace the cable?

and last but not least, how do i get the piece off the dash that holds the stereo? before i bought it someone aparently stole the deck and broke that piece, so now i cant mount a deck in it without replaceing it. i saw two seperate ones in the junkyard with those pulled but couldnt see how they did it

oh and one more for the road.

if its been tapped in the front, and bumper has been pushed over, in the junkyard it looked like the mounting point for the bumper would bend before causeing much damage to the core support if any at all. is that true or no?

i know it sounds like alot is wrong with it, but for $300 running and driving i cant complain

I will post how to remove the dash and radio when i get home tonight. i will look into heater core. Dumb question but have you checked the fuse?

          'Tis true.

Traded my non running 91 240sx for my Accord.
Found it to be a good deal, and I was going to instantly sell it.
Then, curiousity took over... and I checked out the site.
After looking through the Member's Ride pages, there was no way in hell I was going to sell it.

If the heater motor is working you'll be able to hear it. If it's not working then it might be the motor itself, the switch, the fuse, a loose wire etc.

If the blower goes but you can't get hot air, then it might be the water valve in the engine bay, which is low down near the firewall on the rightish side of the car. To find it, have a friend move the hot / cold slide control back and forth while you look for the valve in the engine bay, you should be able to see the end of the valve control wire moving.

If it's not the blower or the valve then it could be one or more of the airflow control flaps, which I've never investigated.

It's something of a pain, and I can't recall each step by step or the location of every screw etc, but:

Start with removing the plastic console bits that run between the front seats (with my car, which is a manual, the hardest part here is getting this console over the shifter lever while also clearing the handbrake lever, I found I had to pull the handbrake on very hard to get the lever high enough).

Once you have this inconvenience out of the way you're more or less at square one and can start looking around for internal screws / bolts in and around the console that holds the stereo / ashtray etc.

                  Good luck, have fun...
                  Regards from Oz,
                  John.

I brought mine for like $500. I wasnt interested in fixing the car. And it was an auto I knew I could sell it to some one for like $900 and get me a 5spd Accord. After checking out this site I saw Boost Lee's Project Throwback and developed a new perception of the car. I fixed everything that was wrong and I swapped a 5spd in. I didnt have to sell it! You got a deal for $300 my man!!! All of the problems you have listed has been discussed and you should be able to find them. Good luck on your project, believe me it will be worth it!!
