ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    manual power steering

Is there anyone on here actually driving with there power steering rack plugged off , and no fluid or power steering pump. This is what im wanting to do but i dont want to mess up the rack a few months down the road, and have to go buy another one to mess up..

It would be better just to swap in a manual rack from a DX. Running it pluged w/o fluid will make it a pain in the bitch to turn. What wrong with the one you have.

There's lots of people that have done this. I believe the best ways to do this are switching over completely to a manual rack, or looping a hose from the input to the output of the rack and packing it with grease or fluid.

Junkyard is going to be your cheapest bet prob, then prob a dealership or a place like AutoZone, etc. Like I said should be a DX steering rack.

Here's a site http://www.discountsteering.com/addt.../80-00566.html Just google it or call a part store and see if they can get it in, if not hit up a junkyard.

x2 I was just going to say that.

                    Power steering was standard.

Oh well I learned something today, maybe you could swap in a Civic manual rack and fab up some stuff. Thanks for correcting me.

I've never even looked at my steering rack. How many inlets/outlets are there? I guess I was always under the impression that there were two and you could run a short length of hose from one to the other and fill it with grease of fluid as I mentioned above.

Maybe i'm wrong about the ins/outs...

with a quicker turn ratio too.

                              There are 4 lines...

I'm pretty sure 2 are for the fluid, and 2 shut off the power steering at higher speeds, via a sensor in the transmission
