ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

car becomes slower when warmed up!??!

when i turn on my 90' LX and drive around for the first lets say 15-30 minutes when the engine is still cold/cool i feel the motor has all of its power...but as the motor heats up and gets to "proper operating temp." it seems to lack power...u can definetly feel the power loss... anyone know what ould be causing this?? it gets on my nerves

yeap, that is typical...when the engine heats up, the block, cylinder bores, expand and the engine has less compression...especially if the cylinder rings are 20 years old.

I find my car performs best in the cool moist morning...and the engine sounds great then too.

if you want to fix this without having to rip open the motor...

    1) Get a valve adjustment
    2) tune up
    3) check tire pressure, alignment
    4) and all other regular maintenance things like spark plugs, oil, and distributor, air filter, O2 sensor.....

The above will help make the power loss less noticeable....hopefully.

Your intake manifold is probably saturated with heat transfered to it from the head, so the air is less dense by the time it reaches your motor.

Do you have a "short ram" air intake by any chance? If you do, ditch it for the factory airbox.

when cold the car uses a rich air fuel mixture, compression actually goes up when warm since the components expand and seal better

there is good airflow in the location where the stock airbox gets air.
but when the air filter is exposed right next to the engine, it is obviously getting very hot air especially if you have aftermarket header with no heat shield
