ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Spring compressor..wish i had known

I wish i had known that spring compressors arent universal.

I rented a set from auto zone and they are too big to fit thorugh the coil. so now I am here stuck, not having a ride to get me back to the store.

i removed one of the spring from the old strut and its too dangerous without the compressor. not only that im not sure where what goes so i gotta back track and take the parts off slowly and make notes.

lol plus there are 3 bicycles here and the tires are all flat.

          Fuck spring compressors.

Set the suspension on soft ground(grass), put your tire/wheel over it and slowly start taking apart. put a cloth over your hand as well so the nut and washer don't go flying everywhere.

Fuck that man. I took apart a strut b4 without the spring compressor (I forgot it) and the strut shot 20 ft. I'm lucky it wasn't pointing at me. I bought one.

That's why you set it on SOFT floor so it dampens the force. I did it just the other day.

if you meant tight one bolt too much....how did you rectify the problem?

yep, they are WAY too fat to fit on stock springs. i improvised with them on crooked just to finish... but that experience left me very bitter toward those typical compressors.

no i meant getting the wrong compressor.

and i don't know what is up with everyone having so many problems with them. i had to push a little but i got the compressor on my springs with relative ease.

Im doing the rears right now and the once the new springs and struts are together, I am trying to put them on the car but the holes dont line up properly. why is this? I am using eibach springs and G2 struts.

it's because the springs ends aren't in the same place so the top hat doesn't line up. Just move the bushing around to accommodate.

I did mine this way a few months back, not a good feeling, but did the job. These universal type comressors (autozone) get the job done but not very safe. There has got to be another compressor like these only made for our cars. Either way, still easier w/ compressor on cb than on a civic due to there even smaller diameter springs.

Any body know of another manual type spring compressor?
