ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    92 h22 compatible with 90 accord?

I see alot of talk about the H22 engine and I was curious if the 1992 through 1996 H22 is the one your talking about. And is it compatible with 1990 accord?

Sorry if they are lame questions I'm new to this stuff and want to start working on my accord I am also wondering if the H22 is better after being upgraded or is the F22a1 better in the long run for good off the line acceleration.

Yes. the 1992 to 96 H22 will work in our Accords.

Yes. the H22 is an upgrade from the F22.

u cant get brand new h22's. the closest thing is a JDM h22 which has low mileage. as long as you do regular maintenance when you get it , itll run good.

Alright cool! Whats a good price to pay for one? and can you usually tell if the previous owner ran the crap out of the engine? cause I don't want to get one that ends up blowing not to long down the road.

i would say if you want to get a tranny and h22a you should be able to get one for about 1500-2000 give or take. There really isnt no way of telling if its had the snot drove outta it unless you tear it apart and inspect. There is always a possibility that it "could blow" why are you replacing? if you wnt somthing reliable and your engine runs fine just leave the f22 in...

                    H22 Price Check

Whats going on fellas? Im new to this site but not new to the honda game. Ive done several H22 swaps in 1994-1997 honda accord's. I will be working on my boy's CB7 this week getting him all set up with his H. We just picked up an H22 for $850 with computer and down pipe and all accessories except for the axels and tranny. The motor is said to be a 1997. You can pick these motors up for a $2000 or less if you bargin really good.

My F22a1 runs great and is well taken care of I'm just not sure if it has as much natural aspiration as the H22 cause I dont plan on doing any boost in the future and its not VTEC and is only a SOHC. Does the F22a1 have potential anyone know?

The F22a whether it be a1,a4,a6 etc. has plenty of potential just like any other Honda Engine.... it just depends on how deep your pockets are and how much time and effort you want to spend on a build. There are a couple of members on here with F22a's N/A mind you, that would keep up with a H22a or in fact give them a run for their money. I think the fastest F22a with just bolt ons on this board did a 15.9 and it wasn't even a F22a6. Some will say a 15.9 is nothing or pure luck.... but you have to take into consideration a fully loaded CB7 runs mid 16.8 even 17s normally.

Most people just say fuck it and want more power on tap and throw in the
H22a. If you start out with a F22a6 rated at 140hp compared to a 200hp h22a, the amount of money you spend to try to get the F22a to surpass the
h22as stock HP level will not be worth it to some and more likely the F22a will be more of a track motor than a daily driver in my opinion if crazy lopy cams and high compression is involved.

Just by swapping in a H22a alone you'll already be seeing mid 15s or high/mid 14sec 1/4mile times with the right boltons. Upgrade the h22as bottom end with high compression pistons or just throw in a full skunk2 valvetrain with at least stage2 cams and tuning and you are already in the low 14s or high 13.8s with drag radials or slicks in a heavy cb7

yeah & it doesn't matter what h22 it is, they will all fit in cb7's. my h came out of a jdm 98 prelude. only thing is u'll have to run obd1 distributor, but it will fit no problem

Wow thanks! decisions decisions, I dont have alot of money it will be a slow fix up you know part by part so it will be hard for me to get an H22 unless i could somehow make payments somehow. Cause i dont have 2g. I dont mind putting time under the hood though.

So the H22 is worth it in terms of power. But how about reliability? once its in a cb7 and you take care of it. Cause i still think H22 will be my way to go, its just gonna be a while till i save that money. and I dont want to be trying to get my f22 up to par with an h22 if it will cost more and take more time.
Oh and whats the diff between an H22 long block and not a long block?
