ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    f22a1 hp question

will the f22a1 be able to put out 200+hp without adding a turbo? could putting a new cam, exhaust, intake etc. on the engine produce 200 hp or close to it?

    #2
you may be able to get close to that mark by adding an F22a6 intake and cam and p12 ecu along with a short ram intake and header and exhaust.
"you can catch me swoopin 4G coupin switchin lanes" haha haha.

1993 SE coupe drag car ahoy!

I have a h23 intake manifold-delta 260 cam-intake,header, full exhaust with high flow cat, and a bisimoto manifold gasket and I bet I only have 165 hp, achieving 200 hp with an a1 will require allot of work...

I've got a header and full 60mm exhaust including hi-flow cat, SRI, p12, and I'm pushing 160-165 whp at 55 degrees fahrenheit. (I'm also told that I've seen unusual performance out of my motor. HondaFan81's mild build only netted him about 150 whp, and he had some money put into it.) The IM and cam aren't going to give up another 40 hp. (I'll be happy if they give me another ten when I do mine. They're in the garage, but I'm lazy). Not to mention, a normal stock f22a1 is probably putting out less than 100 whp at this point in it's life. IHE/P12/a6 cam isn't worth anywhere near 100 ponies.

I think it would take a much larger cam (272 maybe?), a bigger TB, PnP, and a tuned ECU to see 200 NA.

              bisi stg2 cam,
              blacktrax h23 intake manifold,
cold air intake with K&N filter and a duct in place of the bumper turn signal
dc header with 2.5" collector or bisi header
              full 2.5" exhaust
remove balancer belt, A/C and P/S
              full engine tuneup
              engine management and dyno tuning

that is going to be ~185 crank horsepower if tuned well. for 200+hp you will need more work

We all know it can be done, look at bisi's f22a. It's all about the benjamins.

im looking for a f22 with 100,000 or less miles and would like to build it up before i put it in i think it would be alittle easier to do some of the stuff. my engine has too many miles i think to do anything other then intake and exhaust

I believe Cisco also dyno'd on a Mustang Dyno, which reads lower than a Dynojet, which is what I assume you used (as they're the most common). The dyno may also have been calibrated rather optimistically. Did you dyno at an event, where anyone could walk up and get their car dyno'd (like a big event with a mobile dyno) or did you set an appointment at a shop to get it done? The event mobile dynos seem to be optimistic, because when some schlub with an ebay shortram and fart can on his EG hatch somehow makes 135whp, he shits a brick and brings all his buddies over to see what their rice buckets can do!

Still, you're absolutely right that simple bolt ons won't double the power output. The exhaust ports provide a significant bottleneck. Without opening them up a bit, you're going to plateau no matter how good the external parts are. Realistically, 165 whp should be about as far as you can go without cracking open the motor. Maybe a little more if you add a good cam, a Bisimoto header, and one heck of a tune...

The F22A1 is essentially the same as all the other F22A motors. The things you'd need to replace to make 200+hp would eliminate everything that makes the motor different from the rest.

There are F22As running around with over 250whp, NA. It's possible. It just depends on how much money you want to sink into the project, and how practical you want it to be (a 250whp NA F22A isn't exactly a very friendly street car... I know of one that's around that mark, and it's not a daily driver.)

My numbers come from averaging out repeated 1/4 mile runs and then doing the math. I'm old school (broke) like that. 15.87 in the 1/4 on my setup is far from disappointing though (especially at @ 3150 lbs), as long as she keeps running while I eventually obtain and build another one!

Oh yeah, I forgot about that!

You're only about .1 second away from 93twodoorLX. He pretty much just had I/H/E and as little interior as possible (no seats other than the driver's seat, nothing at all in the trunk, no door panels, no center console) His motor always felt abnormally strong, though.

I have to say, you're within a second of my H22!

Yeah, but a second is a lot. Around 30-35 whp. A car length at least. And for my numbers, I split the difference between ET (15.87 (155 whp)) and trap speed (88.7 (171 whp)).
