ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

F22A4 header better than A6 header why?

in the thread gain 30 hp for 500 dollars or less it says the A4 header is way better than the A6 but why? wouldn't they put the better header on the better engine which is the A6 right?

Or am i just lost totally?

the one on he a4 might be a little better im not too sure but dont i maybe wrong but i think most of the power difference in the a6 comes from the intake manifold so.

There is debate about which header flows better. The a4 is a welded tubular style, while the a6 is a cast manifold. The flow difference is probably negligible. The a6 got it's extra ten ponies throught the better intake manifold(it had secondary runners for more airflow at higher rpms) and a slightly wilder cam.

The a4 header is tubular, much like a "performance" header, Where as the a6 is cast iron.

Im not sure why they would perform any different, But if your going for stock, the a4 looks better...

        Edit: Dang it John!

The reason why the A4 will outperform the A6 is because the inside of the tubular header of the A4 is much more smoother then the inside of the cast A6

also doesn't the casted manifold weigh more than the tubular one?

So a4 or a6, manifold or tube type?

I have a chance right now to replace my old cracked a1 manifold and would like to know which one would be better to go back on my a1?

Putting my 2 cents in alright, anybody have change for a half penny? Ok that didn't make cent.. WTF?

If your coming from A1, make sure you have a matching downpipe for the A4, coz A4 is 4-2-1 whereas an A1 is 4-1-1.

Why even bother changing when you will only gain 0.05 HP which does not make any performance difference at all?

If you read the post his stock a1 manifold is cracked and he needs a new one so why not just get an a4 header?

I agree, coz going from A1 to A4 is a bit of work, the downpipe in particular. If the bolts on the cat & downpipe are siezed, you don't wanna mess around with it. Unless you plan on replacing the cat as well.

So A4 is the winner then?

And if you take the A6 intake manifold it activayes the secondary runner in my A1?

No - The A6 manifold HAS secondary runners. Your A1 does not.

So if you put the A6 intake on your engine you will have secondary intake runners and more power. Have fun.
