ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

any hoo oil pan is pretty straight forward...cept you gotta drop the downpipe to get it out...not so fun as you now need gaskets for that. No biggy. I would do this with your next t-belt and get the oil pump re sealed...that way you don't waste those gaskets on JUST a small leak.

get that washer...soft one will seal better...crush one is good for one oc...at toyota we used metal ones...reused 'em like 3'x then replace.

could also be your oil pressure switch (RIGHT above the oil filter...drips behind and around the filter), mine would give a drop on the downpipe every now and then though.

More likely your oil pan gasket since it's all wet...but my drain plug also drips...nothing I worry about.

But any hoo when is your t-belt due?

You do know the timing belt isn't visible unless you remove the cover though right?

It'd be a good idea to check.

t-belts are usually changed every 75-90 k...what is your current mileage?

If you have an oil leak...you need to do your t-belt

I just pulled the whole exhaust off when I did my oil pan. The downpipe looked like it was married to the catalytic converter and I didn't see the point of messing with it, so I sprayed all the exhaust hangers with silicone lubricant and pulled the whole thing off (actually, everything but the muffler hanger--but if I did it again I'd pull that too, so I could get the exhaust completely to one side while doing the pan.)

As to leaking oil drain bolts, I installed a Fram Sure-Drain and have it in there with Permatex liquid thread sealant. It doesn't leak, and I don't ever have to remove it to change the oil so it won't leak in the future.

It's possible your leak is coming from under the timing cover if it manifests mostly near where the timing cover meets the engine block and the side of the oil pan. But changing the oil pan gasket makes good sense. If the leak is still there afterwards, you'll know to look under the timing cover at the oil seals in there.
