ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    A/c Issues

A/C turns on but not as cold as it should be and cant figure out why.......

probably just needs to be serviced. You might have a small leak somewhere, they can spray some stop leak in it and the r12 molecules are larger than 134 so less likely to leak. Also try freeze r12

Might need a recharge of r134 around 30 bucks for a kit. Cheap and an easy fix, if it starts to get warm again you have a leak in your system someware.

There are many reasons that your a/c isn't as cold is it should. The most likely culprit is a leak, and the amount of freon in the system isn't at its optimal, so you lose some cooling effiency. The most common culprit to leaking is the compressor itself. If you have no leaks, and your high/low a/c charge is correct, then the problem might be elsewhere in the evaporator, or condensor.

Also R134a is only about 70% as efficient as R12 in an R12 system. Mixing R134a, and R12, will cause your compressor to cycle, and causes the freon to become highly corrisive. If your going to use 134a, make sure you have no r12 left in the system.

There is an alternatives to r12... Freeze-12, or Envirosafe R12, or Industrial Envirosafe R12. They are all better suited for an r12 system then 134a, and will provide you with higher cooling efficiency then converting to 134a.

Check out this website for the alternatives: http://autorefrigerants.com/co00033.htm

I am currently running R12, and I know my year old compressor already has a leak ()@#($)@(#* napa auto service center #@)(*%$#@)(*), you can see the dye on the bottom side of it. Here shortly i'm going to aquire a remanufactured denso compressor, and recharge my a/c with Industrial Envirosafe R12. R12 would put my vent temps at 20*F after cruising, and 40*F at idle. Industrial Envirosafe R12 is supposed to be more efficient, and cool better then R12, and in a black car, in texas, I need all the cooling I can get.

can't you buy the enviro safe r12 without a license?

You do not need a license to buy any of the alternatives because they do not contain hydroflourocarbons, or chloroflourocarbons. Regular R12 does, thats why you need a license to obtain it.
