ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    car overheated

i was sitting at a gas station for about 10 minutes with the car on then all of sudden i saw steam coming from under the hood. i turned off the car and opend the hood and there was coolant everywhere. it seemed to be spraying out in a mist from between the throttle body and the engine. right under where the pvc hose is. it cooled down and once it stopped spraying coolant i filled up the radiator with water. i drove to my friends house on the way home and i noticed that the fans arent turning on. theyre both connected to constant power. anyone know what the problem could be and how i can get my fans to turn on again?

    thanks

I am guessing the wire job you have has a break in the wire...or...

Your fan relays are toast. But it also sounds like you busted a hose.

the fans are connected in a way so that they turn on when the key is in the ON position. now when i turn the key they dont turn on at all .

ok i found the break in the wire to the constant power and fixed it . the wire was all corroded. now that the fans work im sure it wont overheat while the car isnt in motion.

how can i find out where exactly the coolant wast spraying from?

Hitting the a/c button should also turn on both fans normally, but it sounds as if you have manipulated the way things normally work... may I ask why?

Also it sounds like you blew a hose. I would check the area where you saw coolant, and look around the engine compartment, you should see coolant stains/wetness below where the leak is. If you still can't figure it out, just replace all the coolant hoses you haven't replaced yet. If you've already blown one, there are probably others that are waiting to go. An ounce of prevention is better then a pound of cure.

Try using a test light on the connectors to the fans while the ignition is in the on position (if the fans are setup to always be on in this manner). If you truly have power to your fans, and all the wiring is proper, the test light should light up. If it lights up, you need to replace the fan motor as it is a paperwieght now.

Since you have the fans rigged to turn on whenever the ignition is on, you are running the fans alot more then you would normally, and that probably contributed to your fans dieing soon.

Without tearing anything up...just feel all of the hoses in the general area that the coolant was spraying from.

Also, when was the last time you replaced your water pump?

I had a similiar issue.... and all that was the matter was that A small hose running from an attachment to the intake manifold down behind the block had a hole in it. Went to autozone and bought a new rubber hose and fixed it. No problems since. Hopefully its only as minor as a hole in a hose.

easiest way to do fix the hoses i found is to remove the throttle body and inspect all of the hoses that are under it. u might need a new throttle body gasket too if ur old one comes off in peices. the new gasket insures that no water is leakin into the take mani. most of the time the hoses are dryrotted too far to just replace one. you gotta think theses cars are anywhere between 16 and almost 20 years old. i would replace all those little hoses. head to ur nearest parts store and pick up about 2 feet of the same size hose and replace them all. this way u won't blow another one a month from now. i had the same issue and fixed just one and sure enought i was in the middle of nowhere, it was 2 a.m. and saw the steam and i smelled anitfreeze.
